Troops who can't accept the idea of overturning the ban on gays in the military should consider leaving the service, says a senior aide to Gen. David Petraeus.
Command Sergeant Major Marvin Hill tells TV One's "Washington Watch" that he believes "the troops are ready" for the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.
"If there are people who cannot deal with the change, then they're going to have to do what's best for their troops and best for the organization and best for the military service and exit the military service, so that we can move forward -- if that's the way that we have to go," Hill says in an interview with Roland Martin, scheduled to air Sunday.
Hill says it will be up to military brass to "set the tone" for the rank-and-file in accepting gay service members.
"We know that if there is a change, that that change will have to be led, and it's going to have to be led by senior leaders such as myself and -- and others across the battlefield," Hill says.

Gag.
“If there are people who cannot deal with the change, then they’re going to have to do what’s best for their troops and best for the organization and best for the military service and exit the military service, so that we can move backwards —...
The US military must be the laughing stock of the world’s military.
There won’t be any “troops” left.
I think they will leave. Thats the problem...
What does he figure - there will be a lot of slack taken up by the new gay recruits, so who needs that many troops? I wonder if they have any idea how many that will prompt to leave? I doubt it.
What a disappointment.
I predict lower recruitment, fewer retentions, and much, much more strife.
All pointless and all entirely avoidable.
What a world
I know of two that did. One left the Navy after 10 years. The other is leaving the Army when his enlistment is up.
Anything else would make David a liar.
0bama’s backdoor way of getting non 0bamanite out of the military and replacing them with those loyal to his brand of fascism.
Hard to believe a Command Sargeant Major said this...
Arsehole
If he gets his wish, we’re going back to the draft...bank on it.
The aide who made this comment is a fool. He’s got the problem ass backwards and it’s those who feel the need to flaunt their need for a same sex relationship that should be gettin’ out of the service...
People who can't accept the idea of the United States heading down the same path of destruction as the Roman Empire should consider leaving the country.
Really disappointing coming from a Command Sergeant Major.
Don’t know about that. Served with the Danish troops for a while in Kosovo. They have allowed homosexuals in their service for a long time. They won’t be laughing. They’ll be asking for date cards.
Gen. David Betray-us
As Rush says, ‘it’s the army, not a social experiment.’
Oh man. In the middle of a war this guy has the brass to say this?
I would give a lot to have this sonuvabitch get an earful from Patton.
