Looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right

Surveying the crop of would-be Republican presidential contenders in 2012, some Christian leaders can’t muster much enthusiasm.

“The supposed frontrunners have all got problems,” says Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and a prominent leader of the religious right. Mitt Romney? “He put ‘Obamacare Light’ in place in Massachusetts,” says Land. “It’s going to be awfully difficult for him to surmount that.” Sarah Palin? “Her problem is her very high negatives. Evangelicals want somebody they like, but they also want somebody who can beat Barack Obama.” Mike Huckabee? “The problem Mike’s got is that he and Sarah Palin are appealing to the same base, and Sarah has stronger appeal to that base.” And Newt Gingrich? “Two ex-wives is one ex-wife too many for most evangelicals.”

That might have been the only time I stood up and cheered old Fred during the debates. He scorched Huck to cinders. Damn.

I think Palin is great, but, I did a search on Palin and illegals, and I got this:

http://immigration.about.com/od/immigrationlawandpolicy/a/palin.htm
Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska?
I don’t know, I don’t know. That’s a good question.
As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?
There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that’s not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.
Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?
No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They’ve got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.
To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.
I did a search on Bolton and illegals, and all I got was some long winded speeches, but, over and over again, John Bolton recognizes that our countries sovereignty is at stake.

I live amongst millions of foreigners, I could survive here speaking nothing but Spanish.

Unless you guys convince me otherwise, I will not vote for Palin

Hell, I'm supporting Bozo the Clown if he runs against Obama.

Radar Ears vs Zero. Now that would be a race!

So, illegal immigration is funny to you?

No.

What's funny to me is a poster who starts off saying that he thinks "Palin is great" then goes on to say that he will not vote for her.

How is Palin "great" in Haddit's world?

Certainly Franklin would have.

To 52 - Merely the devil’s advocate here, but if the veep candidate is “required to promote the positions of the [prez] candidate” why then did Mrs Palin stray on the issue of opening ANWR to drilling? McCain opposed this, Palin was/is in favor of, and she let this be known during the campaign.

To 39 - Mrs Palin cites a passage from Gingrich's book Rediscovering God in America on pg 209 of her latest book. Perhaps she isn't as repulsed by Newtie as you appear to be?

To 71 - No offense, but oft many of you behave as a child in a very poor family who wants a $500 bicycle for his birthday. We can sincerely and ardently wish for the perfect candidate but at some point have to face the fact that Mr/Mrs Perfect is of no use if he/she cannot get elected.

"This will be my one response, between now and 2012, to anyone blind enough to suggest any GOP presidential candidate other than Sarah Palin. It's for everyone from pissant to Karl "Tokyo" Rove, and all those in between:

No GOP candidate in 2012 will stand a chance against Obama without the Tea Party vote behind them. And virtually no Tea Partiers will vote for anyone but Sarah.

I'm going to repeat this, because it is the only message of any importance at all concerning the GOP and 2012...

No GOP candidate in 2012 will stand a chance against Obama without the Tea Party vote behind them. And virtually no Tea Partiers will vote for anyone but Sarah. If the GOP really wants the White House in 2012, they'd better get right up tight behind her, drafting along in her slipstream, or they're going NOWHERE in 2012.

That, you can take to the bank.

No GOP candidate in 2012 will stand a chance against Obama without the Tea Party vote behind them. And virtually no Tea Partiers will vote for anyone but Sarah. If the GOP really wants the White House in 2012, they'd better tuck their nose right up tight behind her, drafting along in her Mach-5 slipstream, or they're going NOWHERE in 2012.

And I'm reasonably sure that, at least subconsciously, you already knew this, even if you're not fully prepared to admit it yet. Denial is vastly preferable to the Palin Derangement zeros when stood next to the pure inevitability of the 2012 Palin Presidency.

But look at the bright side. You know she'll be 1,000 times better than O'Bunghole. And since she's no One Worlder (like the Bushes), she'll even be vastly preferable to W.

Commonsense Constitutional Conservatism. Palin 2012.

As inevitable as the quisling O'Bungwad's epic failure, and the subsequent roar of millions of Liberal heads exploding.

;-\

Golly gee, there are many different Tea party groups out there.

I don’t get that impression fron all of them that they will only vote for Palin.

In fact, just this week A Tea Party group suggested her for Steele’s job.

Or do you speak for everyone now?

Because Bolton is on record as 100% opposed, despite the “soft pedaling” he had to do as an employee of the Bush admin which wanted it.

And yet Sarah came out 100% opposed to TARP and the Auto bailouts and yet you still have a problem with her on this issue?

Talk about a double-standard.
