School superintendents across the state were reminded by the ACLU this week that holiday celebrations focusing primarily on one religious holiday amount to an unconstitutional endorsement of religion.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) letter, addressed to 137 public shool leaders across the state, stated that it was responding to a number of complaints from families about school party activites this Christmas season.
Hedy Weinburg, ACLU executive director in Tennessee, cited several U.S. Supreme Court decisions about the matter.
But several area citizens, like Jim Brown, think that such admonitions are misguided and potentially dangerous. Brown commented on the news, saying "We are a Christian nation. Let's act like it." and said that he hopes that the teachers and administration will celebrate the Christmas season.
Said one area teacher (name withheld), "I respect people of different faiths, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to eliminate my own from my work and and my classroom. I can enjoy Christmas as Christmas without worrying that I'm going to offend someone. My money still says that I trust in God. Are they going to stop me from using that, too?"
The letter was sent from the ACLU to the top administrators across the state. What those administrators do with the information is yet to be seen.
This is unconstitional and a violation of the First Amendment. It’s time for the DOJ to “man up” and go after the commie atheists in the aCLU and throw them in jail where they belong. They are denying Americans their rights of Freedom of Speech and the Freedom of Religion.
ACLU = Anti-Christian Litigation Unit.

NO it does NOT. If the schools can force the teaching of islam to our children then the word Christmas can be said. The ACLU is an enemy of America AND OUR cONSTITUTION AND WAY OF LIFE..
The next “reminder” coming from the ACLU will warn us that wishing someone a “Happy Birthday” constitutes an unconstitutional endorsement of a fetus’ right to life. At that point, nobody will be able to stick one’s head out the door without offending some woman who has already exercised her “right to choose”.
I really do not see where the ACLU has a case.
I’m cringing too as a Jew to see these no good commie Jews at ACLU and other orgs making war on Christmas. This is so rotten. There are plenty of non-Jews making war on Christmas too. Me, I like Christmas and Christmas time.
Atheism is (usually) a mental disorder
Where to start?
Who put the ACLU in charge?
Who really cares if someone complains? Aren't complaints made about all sorts of things every day? Why is there a threat implied simply because a complaint was lodged?
If the activities are taking place because of the CHRISTMAS season, why use the patently fraudulent 'Holiday' label when everyone - both pro and con - know differently?
These are not educational activities. If a parent doesn't wish to allow their child's participation they need only keep the child home where they can revel in their atheism. It's win-win.
I tell the clerks “it’s Merry Christmas!”,NOT happy holidays.
They serve no useful purpose.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, ACLU
Somebody should ask the ACLU how they feel about Ramadon.
FU** the ACLU
Weinberg of the ACLU doesn’t like Christmas. Why am I not surprised?
THAT’s cute!
“Christmas Day is a Legal United States Holiday and State Holiday on all USA calendars and public school calendars.”
Thanks for that. This should serve to “remind” our public schools that they have the legal ammunition to tell the ACLU and all other crackpot leftist organizations to go shove it. Then I would like to see the courts exercise some discretion and start dismissing frivolous law suits.

My daughter is a resident advisor at a college in SC and she was told she could not have a Christmas tree, but it would be ok to have a holiday tree. I was proud of her when she decided not to have a tree at all!
Hey ACLU, SCREW YOU! Jesus is the reason for the season.
