"NO Tax cuts for the RICH!!!!" You can just hear them on the left shouting this incessantly for years. MoveOn.org ran ads saying they want to repeal tax cuts for the rich. Tim Geithner said it. Krugman said it, over and over. Obama CAMPAIGNED on it. Repeal the tax cuts on the rich!
It wasn't that Democratic politicians particularly cared about the deficit; as we have seen recently, Obama has had the largest deficits since WWII. His deficits have been 400% of Bush's.

Meanwhile back at the FED Bernie says we are going down.
Throughout the 70s and 80s we were lectured about “stereotypes”, and how they have been employed to dehumanize ethnic minorities and women. A slight, but non-fatal brush with Gender Studies, informed one that the phenomenon was a deep-seated characteristic of society that was self-perpetuating until discovered and righteously attacked by Feminist “scholarship”.
So now we have these crudely constructed stereotypes employed by the Left—”the rich”, “greedy bankers”, “evil oil”, “big drug”, etc that are coined in order negatively to “brand”, opposition groups and influence voting patterns among the great unwashed. Of course, the MS media has cabbaged onto them so obligingly in their news coverage, that they became trite and overused while the actual issues still hang in the balance. It seems like that should concern Fairness Doctrine advocates (especially given the importance of textual interpretation to radical scholarship), but oh yeah, the practice negatively “brands” their opposition. Hypocracy does not apply to revolutionaries—only for the bourgeoisie (to use an old pre-feminist stereotype}
The millionaires and billionaires have spoken!!!!
The left are so obviously stuoooopid it’s hard to fathom.
They have put their own construct on the election and continue to tell us that we shellacked them because we want cooperation.
The republicans best get it........we want them to keep on saying NO NO NO NO to anything proposed by the America hating left.
Our only hope is that we can reach independents and educate them so they don’t vote left.
Only hope is independents.
If only...We do not need politicians anymore, We need real leaders, leadership and intestinal fortitude.
“People just shouldn’t have that much money.”
The Anointed One also said,
“People shouldn’t be allowed to have guns.”
Sheer elitism and arrogance. Bitter clingers, take note.
I get what you're saying, but they're not even that. They are ZERO percent of the deficit.
Number one, they're not "tax cuts." It's status quo. What the 'rats were proposing was a tax HIKE.
Using the democrats' logic, we could cut the deficit quite a bit by having the government confiscate 100 percent of all of our incomes.
Throughout my adult life, there has been a handful of Dem positions and tactics that have never changed. Class warfare is one, race hustling another. followed by soft on crime, soft on national security and defense, tax and spend.
It never changes. It’s in their DNA.
What obama did was the single best thing he's done for the country since taking office. Might even be enough to get him re-elected if the economy turns around by 2012?
“Bitter clingers, take note.”
Bitter clingers always take notes.
After obama has established a marxist/dictator pattern, why is there anyone who believes that he will not allow the Bush tax rates to reset upward?
It has a whole lot more to do with the media. When the Republicans stand up to set the record straight, the MSM cut the mikes and walk away.
I think that might have been the same debate. I’d love to find the exact quote. But the one I’m thinking wasn’t Stephanolopolis; it was another reporter. (CBS?) The question was, knowing that historically capital gains taxes actually decrease revenue, would he still tax them.
His answer was yes, because it wasn’t fair people had that kind of money. It was such an eyeopener, but everyone but Rush let it go by. Obama basically said people should be taxed, even if it decreased everyone’s prosperitiy, because he thought it was wrong they had too much money.
It that wasn’t a scary window into the man, I don’t know what was.
they're not "tax cuts." It's status quo. What the 'rats were proposing was a tax HIKE.As we stated here, tax cuts for the rich are only 3% of the deficit this year.
No, of course they're not tax cuts at this point but a battle over the status quo. I considered putting scare quotes around "tax cuts" in that statement, but I was quoting the original article, and the original article did not have scare quotes around that expression. The fact that the "Bush tax cuts" are the status quo, and all this deal does is maintain the status quo tax rates, implies to me that nothing in this would be expected to improve the economy. It only prevents destruction from being automatically increased.

True. The point of the libradex article is that the tax cuts on the “rich” are a very small % of revenue/deficit, yet Dems continue to lie and say the entire cause of the deficit is these tax cuts.
THey are just full of it. Same thing with war spending: http://libradex.noyveg.com/viewBlogWar.aspx?id=2
