Former president John F. Kennedy, Jr. remains the most popular of recent past American presidents, according to a recent Gallup poll, while former President Richard Nixon continues to rank as the least popular.
According to the poll, Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963, enjoys an 85 percent approval rating - up one point from 2006 figures. He bests by 11 points former President Ronald Reagan, who clocked in at second place with a 74 percent rating.

Which is precisely why the last thing I would want is for something to happen to The Usurper before he is voted out.
Proving that a so-so guy can get to the top by being shot.
Today, he’d be a Republican.
at this point it is all image, since nearly everyone responding was not alive when JFK was in office.
I suspect responders on average could not give 5 pertinent facts about his administration, much less policy.
Not with whiz kid Robert McNamara as SecDef.
“What about Millard Fillmore?”
Nope. He gave us California.
You'd be wrong.
We gave up Turkey ... but disaster was averted, and the Soviets were forced to pull out of Cuba.
We didn't "give up" Turkey -- we removed some Jupiter MRBM missiles from there. No big loss, but the real loss was the US pledge NOT to invade Cuba, which was part of the missile crisis resolution deal. That stripped America of all leverage to fight against Castro. Not to mention condemning to death hundreds of political prisoners in Cuban gulags over the intervening years.
Kennedy "won," eh? Thank God we didn't have too many of those victories.
Nailed it!
Right — good point. LOL.
“JFK Still Most Highly-Regarded Former President”
Ridiculous. I’m sure people have no idea why they think this way.
The myth lives
“Former president John F. Kennedy, Jr. remains the most popular of recent past American presidents,”
Because he was killed.
OK. Franklin Pierce then.
“Had he lived to the end of his term he wouldn’t be.”
Agree. Most Americans are too young to actually remember him and his presidency. Let’s see, for what should we give him credit? 1. screwed up the invasion of Cuba and thereby ensuring Castro’s permanency. 2. Got the U.S. involved in Vietnam. 3. Nothing on civil rights, was afraid to touch the subject. LBJ should get credit for punching threw the 1964 civil rights act. 4. Well, after screwing up the Cuba invasion, guess we should give him credit for the Cuba blockade and standing down the Soviets. Guess that’s about it. Feel free to add to the list.
“...As the percentage of Americans working for the government grew, other politicians began to see support for public employee unions as a way to get votes. State politicians around the country allowed public employees to unionize shortly after Wagners executive order. President John F. Kennedy allowed federal government workers to unionize starting in 1962.”
Exactly correct! And another politician, here in Nebraska, is pushing for the same corrupting nonsense.
That individual is Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE).
For this single reason, I am willing to kick his ass to the curb the next time he comes begging for my vote.
Moreover, this is the same Senator who voted in favor of S510, The Food “Safety” Bill... a further expansion of federal power and expense.
These two unbelievable acts of legislative hubris were both committed by Senator Mike Johanns scarcely three months after lecturing his constituents—at a Town Hall meeting held in McCook, Nebraska—about the grave dangers Americans face from growing federal deficit spending!
Please explain, Senator Johanns, why you should be allowed to continue to represent the great state of Nebraska? You are turning into a Ben Nelson clone... and one of him is bad enough!
He (Clinton) lifted Monica? More like... Monica “lifted” him.
If these poll results are accurate, it’s simply a testimony to the dumbing-down of Americans. Why else would a drug- addicted pervert be more highly regarded than all other presidents?
They poll this every year and it always comes out 1963. Seems fishy to me.
So what? Castro is a FAR lesser priority than Soviet nuclear missiles 90 miles off our coast. As for political prisoners ... hundreds of Cuban lives vs. millions of American lives.
There was no perfect solution, but I fail to see how a better one could’ve been reached.

“JFK Still Most Highly-Regarded Former President” - not by me.
I noticed that too, it was and still is very confusing to me. I later learned a liberal family member had changed registration from Dem to Rep the day he died...weird.
It seems that getting shot in the head is a great political move...just sayin..
Just shows what good media can do for a philandering, sexual predator with very little to show for being a good president. All glitz . . . no substance. He was, however, the last democrat president who showed a modicum of respect for our country.
