Kathy Griffin hosted the VH1 Divas salute to the troops this weekend, but her “jokes” about Bristol Palin being “fat” fell flat.
"She's the only contestant in the history of the show to actually gain weight," Griffin said in reference to Bristol's trip to the finals on “Dancing With the Stars.”
Even after the troops' loud booing, Griffin continued the attack.
"No, come on, come on. She gained like 30 pounds a week, I swear to God, it was fantastic,” Griffin said. “She's like the white Precious."
(Actress Gabourey Sidibe played the role of “Precious,” a 350-pound black woman in the hit Lee Daniels film which was released last year.)

I guess this is today’s new military where it is illegal for a Christian chaplin to pray in the name of Jesus Christ but it is acceptable to invite a blasphemous, foul mouth loser to entertain our troops.

I would generally agree. In this case, though, you have youth, and, judging from the audience, even black youth supporting Palin.
That's a good sign, IMHO, and I think it's good strategy for Palin to force more coverage of this particular incident.

Also, would the View have an interest in broadcasting that youthful Americans support Palin? I don't think that is the case either.
Bristol's appearance on DWTS may prove to be a boon to Sarah Palin if it draws in the sympathy of youthful voters.
Bristol Palin is a very pretty, healthy looking young woman and Kathy Griffin is a sleazy, aging, low class, foul mouthed broad. You know, the kind that when you see them on TV you kind of cringe because you feel embarrassed for them. Not funny just vulgar. I’m thinkin Kathy may have a little jealousy going on there somewhere.

Palin’s a couple of lucky breaks, high cheek bones and a shapely ankle away from a trailer park. She’s cramming for the top job in the world without ever having aced a test in her life. She’s the very definition of a lightweight.
Her kids’ lack of discipline and displays of raw ego reflect a troubling ethos at the core of the Palin family, passed from parent to child, one might reasonably surmise.
I’m a lifelong conservative, hammered out and shaped on Ronald Reagan’s anvil. I warned on FR that W. would be a disastrous president, and I was correct, even though even I never believed in 2000 that a so-called conservative would start an unjustified war of aggression on flimsy pretenses just because a tinhorn dictator dissed his daddy, which war future historians may mark as the moment a great power slipped from greatness and began an inexorable and irreversible decline.
As I was right about Bush, I believe just as strongly I’m right about Palin. We cannot afford another failed presidency. She would be a disaster. Wake up conservatives and stop letting yourselves be dazzled by a photogenic face. She is NOT the real deal.
