WASHINGTON (AP) — Elizabeth Edwards is gravely ill and doctors have told her she only has weeks to live, according to a family friend who is among those who have gathered with Edwards at her North Carolina home.
The family issued a statement Monday that said doctors have told her that further treatment for her cancer would be unproductive, and the family friend further described Edwards' condition to The Associated Press.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Four relatives of a wealthy donor to John Edwards were at the federal courthouse in Raleigh on Friday, where a grand jury has been investigating the two-time Democratic presidential candidate.
Sources told WRAL News that Stacy Lloyd III, the son of heiress Rachel “Bunny” Mellon; his two sons, Stacy Lloyd IV and Thomas Lloyd; and Thomas Lloyd’s wife, Ricki Lloyd, were called to testify before the grand jury.
Grand jury proceedings are secret, but the panel is believed to be looking into Edwards’ campaign finances to determine whether any funds were used improperly, including whether money was used to hide an affair Edwards had with staffer Rielle Hunter.

I am sure John can scrape together a negligence lawsuit with one of the Doctors involved. He is out of work and has a lot of time on his hands.
Along with cancer, many suffer with extreme stress and agony over how to pay for treatment, who will watch the kids, how to keep up with the mortgage, etc. She’s had it rough, no doubt, but probably much easier than the average person. Still, God bless her and the family.

She’s had it rough, no doubt, but probably much easier than the average person. Still, God bless her and the family.
I was with my grandmother when she died from cancer. It is a horrible death. My cousin died when he was 29 of a brain aneurysm and my grandmother was with him when they turned off life support. She said time and time again that the heartbreak, agony and anguish she suffered from that time was an open door to her cancer as her entire body was broken and unable to fight off anything.
That being said, go to hell John Edwards. Regardless of what I think of Elizabeth, she put herself at risk having more children and taking the hormones to get pregnant at her age. You are a monster. I hope your oldest daughter gets custody of those kids as you are no role model for any living being. No one deserves to be treated the way you did and the stress you put YOUR WIFE, THE MOTHER OF YOUR FOUR KIDS through could have contributed to the acceleration of her disease.
If my husband behaved the way you have, his balls would be in a baby food jar on my mantle.
And I hardly believe that where you will be going, you will reunite with your son. No worries, his mother will be there to comfort him.
I found last night a friend of mine has stage 4 rectal cancer. She is at peace knowing she will spend eternity in the comfort of God’s arms.
I pray that Elizabeth and those who love her can find this same peace.....prayers for all....
