> Thank you. I never thought in my short life I would be
> considering leaving America with my family

You will not be able to own a firearm in NZ.

You will be jailed if you use lethal force to protect yourself or your family.

Same pretty much all over the “civilized” world, except here in the States.

It’s bad here. Real bad. But we still have the potential to turn it around. It will be bloody. It will be difficult. It will be ugly.

Jefferson said that the tree of liberty must be refreshed periodically with the blood of tyrants and patriots. I fear that it’s not going to happen any other way at this point.

See, there are basically two kinds of people in the world. There are those who just want to be left alone to live their lives and pursue their dreans, and there are the meddling busybodies that think they know what’s best for everybody, except, of course, themselves.

These meddling busybodies are nothing more than tyrants and criminals with a “good conscience”, as C.S. Lewis warns in this quote.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
~ C.S. Lewis

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself) The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

My son was assigned this book in a college class this semester and says it is full of baloney. He’s writing his paper based on revealing all that baloney.

“You will not be able to own a firearm in NZ.” Not true, firearm ownership is not an issue.

“You will be jailed if you use lethal force to protect yourself or your family”

so what, same as places I have lived in the US.

“It’s bad here. Real bad. But we still have the potential to turn it around. It will be bloody. It will be difficult. It will be ugly.”

Exactly why I am removing my family from it. I have doled out misery and I do not want it near my family. Done my part, time for others to step up. NZ society is markedly different than the US. I am casting my bet things will be less bloody there.

No way are you kidding, in fact my wife goes to many libraries in NH to purchase all the decent Christian classics they are getting rid of. Librarians at your public libraries are the most adverserial to Christianity and the ones in the governments schools are essentially Satans spawn when it comes to christianity and Books related to Americas Christian roots.

Go to any library in NH, the atheism section is way larger than any Christian section, and the gay studies section is at least 4-8’ full up and in front. Search the library internet system at UNH for Christian Classics, all but gone, I dare say it is to a remenant.

Academia is full on killing christianity in NH. Full on.

Do you happen to have a good article about that?

Holland and Sweden both have voucher systems, and quite good primary education results.

About NZ voucher system? Not at my finger tips, if you search homeschooling and NZ or NZ and school funding there are several articles the give decent overviews of what happend with public funds vs government union thugs employed as teachers. Thugs lost bigtime, families one for a change

I read it in context and disagree. She took a cheap shot with an unjust slur.

There is, but no one wants to go first. Our Founders would have done it already.

“We had almost PhD people letting this fumble through their fingers, and they all said it was grand,” said Dennis Taylor, a conservative Christian. “I think there should be a review of these individuals and perhaps some firing done.”

I don’t do that...I give’em hell the whole time. My son’s kinder teacher is having Winter Holidays Around the World and when I bucked up about this in an e-mail that the room mother got wind of she said there’s no reason you can’t cover America. I chose to do Delaware Crossing as it occurred on Christmas Day. Had planned to get a set with a boat and place for the kids to do pretend rowing, sound effects, wear a beat up colonial militia costume, bring in dry ice and a live lobster. Printed the famous painting for kids to see and ref...discuss.No effort was spared in my mind to get across to kids the incredible odds and effort of obtaining their country.
Teacher e-mails that I can’t set up beyond the classroom and did not see a correlation with the theme. I then proceeded to lay out the toxic philosophy of multiculturalism. We will see if she responds.Let her know that I believe that Americans DO HAVE A CULTURE!

It’s your choice, to homeschool or to be super involved at school, supply extra tutoring, etc. Personally I feel homeschooling is the easier of the two options, aside from the other benefits, but I know involved parents can counter much of the garbage being presented in schools.

Still, I just don’t see why I should bother doing that when I can teach ‘em better myself.

If your son can handle an extra book while working on the paper, I recommend “Scratch Beginnings” by Adam Shepard. It is Mr. Shepard’s response to Barbara Ehrenrich.
