[history]
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced Wednesday afternoon that the Obama administration will not allow offshore oil drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico or off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts as part of the next five-year drilling plan, reversing two key policy changes President Obama announced in late March.

$4 to $5 a gallon gas by 2012 will pretty much destroy what’s left of the dems, but at the cost of pretty much destroying the US economy. At some point, this has to be considered not just bad policy with unintended disasterous consequences, but intentional wrecking of the greatest economic dynamo on the planet. We may be well into the second quarter of the 21st century before we begin to recover from the actions of our nitwit president and his socialist energy czar - and we may never fully recover.

...and instead "focus and expand our critical resources on areas that are currently active" when it comes to oil and gas drilling. WTF?? To "focus and expand our critical resources"? Since when has the US gov't been drilling in the Gulf? I thought it was only a bunch of left-leaning countries that had gov'ts that controlled the petroleum industry. It just amazes me how misguided this president is. I'm surprised he can draw a breath without help.

A renegade oil platform surrounded and protected by enough free people’s boats and ships would be an interesting scenario and maybe a plot of an indie film.

Punishing Jindal for outing His Phoniness!! >:-(
I hope Bobby Jindal tears him a new one, publicly. This is so anti-American economy, there’s got to be some sort of way to bypass it! Can the House Republicans do ANYTHING to help all those people who will be screwed permanently because of this arbitrary decision??? >:-(

Exclusive economic zone ends at 200 miles out. Any oil out there is fair game for whomever wants to punch holes in the Gulf, Atlantic or Pacific floor. It’s got to be really deep that far out though.
