Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have pledged a vote as early as this week on the DREAM Act (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors), a bill that would legalize illegal aliens who arrived here before the age of 16 and who comply with certain educational or military-service requirements.
The core principle behind this amnesty proposal is that it is aimed at those who have grown up here and are, psychologically and emotionally, Americans. In the words of Americas Voice, a hard-left open-borders group, the beneficiaries of the measure are patriotic young Americans in all but paperwork.
Theres no doubt that this is the most sympathetic group of illegal immigrants. That is precisely why DREAM has been dangled as bait for the more general amnesty proposals described as comprehensive immigration reform, with amnesty advocates brandishing the situation of these young people as justification for a broader amnesty. (Though no one seems to have stopped to ask: If such a comprehensive bill would provide amnesty for all illegals, then why would we need DREAM?)

I totally understand but what if that happened to you and your parents were french and you were 1 year old. They died so you are sent to France.....how would you survive now at age 18? I am against illegal immigration but there are some interesting concerns to be looked at.
What is particularly annoying about this Dream Act is drawing an equivalence between serving in the military and attending college. Attending college is not a sacrifice nor is it inherently honorable. Serving in the military is indeed a sacrifice and inherently honorable.
“I say kick the parents out of the country but how can we kick out these kids? That is a dilemma that you have not thought about.”
What parent would leave their child behind? They decided to break our laws by coming here they pay the price.
it is NOT our obligation to create a life for children of illegals.
Why do you think it cruel to require parents to take their children with them?
Unforunately, they're speaking with the wrong lips.
Ping!
Like healthcare etc., it will never be about what harry/nancy/ogungler tell you it is going to be about. Lame duck voting needs to be outlawed.
If passed this night mare of a dream will go on forever, there is no end in sight for this scheme;, this will carry on forever, to any one who can get their kids here
Are they doing jobs that Americans won't do? Think about that.
Make them register then institute a draft, see how fast they go home.
You would survive by learning French with the assistance of the French government. Actually, that is an easy case.
This issue has to do with the survival of our country, our liberty, and our culture. Sentimentalism has no place in the discussion.
The kids go home with their illegal parents. How hard is that to comprehend?
The “pie” is finite and we CAN’T keep letting EVERYONE get a piece just cus’ it feels good.
Your ILLEGAL children are adversely affecting our LEGAL children and THAT’S fact.
Legislating based on one’s feelings is what Liberals do.
Amen.
As someone who works with Latinos, most from Mexico, I can assure everyone that their children, born here or back home, are more Latino than American. Think about it. They learn Spanish from their parents. Almost everyone they come in contact with before they start school is Hispanic. When they start school they understand very little English. They learn about their home country from their parents, who know nothing about America or being American. Don't be fooled by these people.
