Mending ObamaCare
WSJ ^ | NOVEMBER 30, 2010 | John Fund

House Republicans signaled last night they are serious about trying to repeal ObamaCare but at the same time want to preserve some of its more popular provisions, like restricting health insurance companies.

Incoming House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said Republicans will introduce a repeal bill along with a separate set of provisions designed to replace it with their own health-care vision. If the GOP isn't careful, however, it could be boxed into a policy dead end.

Republicans should remember that while 60% or more of people who are polled may support intrusive regulation of insurance companies, a majority of voters who elected the new Republican House majority probably don't. Unless Republicans come up with other ways to deregulate the insurance market, their pre-emptive surrender on key aspects of ObamaCare will ultimately accelerate the country's move toward socialized medicine.

The Republicans look like they want to be liked by the Democrats and the media.

They just do not get it.

Sorry, but only full repeal, or at least full de-funding, is acceptable. If they give in on any of this, then they learned nothing from last month's elections.

Looks like our work is far from done.

I have a perfect solution for everyone whom supported the Obamacare lets utilize the death panels that they so desparately wanted. The rest of us are exempted from ObamaCare and all the liberals can have it with the provision that they are denied the care because they are already considered brain dead.

The Republicans are “conservatives” not reactionaries. They will not end the abomination. They will keep what is in effect. They, as conservatives, will not pass new entitlements and aggrandizements -maybe, but they will not undo the yoke and chains placed on us by others. They will use the new structure to fashion their own vote buying schemes by tweeking and adjusting and liberalizing provisions for this group and that. We do not need conservatives in Washington. We need honest and frank reactionaries.

Well mandating that insurance comapnies can’t drop you if you get sick isn’t a bad idea.Perhaps having a pool set up at the state level for high risk isn’t a bad idea but should be a state thing not federal.Other than that the whole thing should be killed.

its more popular provisions . . . . .

Like what? Children staying insured on their parents policy until 26? When the parents get the bill for that, which is estimated to be $3000 - $3500 per child per year it will be as popular as the plague.

Preexisting conditions? As of November 14, 2010:

According to the President,

uninsured Americans who’ve been locked out of the insurance market because of a pre-existing condition will now be able to purchase quality, affordable health care–some for the very first time in their lives.

We were told this problem was huge, and the passage of Obamacare would correct it immediately.

So, one of the first aspects of Obamacare to be implemented was the pre-existing condition insurance program, and it began in July. Each state had the option of implementing its own program (27 states took this approach, and, some of them already had such programs), and, for the rest of America, insurance was made available by the Department of Health And Human Services.

Here we are, five months later, and the results are “stunning”.

[I]n North Dakota…one person has signed up out of 647,000 state residents. Four people have enrolled in West Virginia. Things are better in Minnesota, where Mr. Obama has rescued 15 our of 5.2 million, and also in Indiana—63 people there. HHS did best among the 24.7 million Texans. Thanks to ObamaCare, 393 of them are now insured…Combined federal-state enrollment is merely 8011 nationwide as of November 1, according to HHS.

Obamacare has to be repealed in its entirety. There is no such thing as it more popular provisions.

Said it before will say it again,
.

the GOP will NEVER repeal obama deathcare.

.

Getting closer to the time the Tea Party goes solo and relegates the GOP to a rump deomcrat/statist lite party.

The damned GOP has never repealed anything, not since the days of Woodrow Wilson.

But if they don’t repeal Obamacare, it’s Goodbye, GOP!

Defund and then repeal the bill! Period.

No they don’t and they also do not understand that even when democrats lose and lose big they still maintain the mental attitude and outward expression that they won..even as losers they behave like the winners they are not and the sooner the stupid republican and these so called “young guns” get it the better.

The Hill reported that Cantor wanted to keep a couple of items in Obamacare, and Rush reported on it. Hannity then reported that The Hill retracted the story and Cantor’s office put in a phone call to Hannity saying that REPEAL is the goal. As in, NO Obamacare.

Now I have to read the WSJ to see what’s new on the wobbly crowd.
