good point, they probably listed the endangered road runners on their justification.
Who counted them? How many birds are killed by wind mills generating power? Trillions, no doubt. Maybe more.
Which is legislating from the bench.
And to think some of us kooks out on the right-wing fringe thought the EPA was just another tool to subjugate the American slaves and should be abolished.
I guess that’s just a crazy conspiracy theory.
Trickie Dick, but at least he was anti-communist.
NIXON ???
Richard Milhous Nixon
Not just that, but any legit practice shooting range (shotgun, rifle, or pistol)I have been to for the sake of practice shooting does a thorough job of recycling copper shells and also digging out the lead rounds, thereby not giving lead a chance to dissolve or build up in the soil, or building materials, depending on the range. As for hunting, I am sorry, but people shoot to hit, and I doubt many guys miss with enough rounds to seriously put high lead concentrations in the soil. Hunting rounds fall in sparse locations too, taking a great deal from the argument that hunting causes it.
The worst problem we ever had with lead was lead in the air from leaded gasoline, but airborne lead has since disappeared since we ceased using lead in gasoline. It was really with the Clean Air Act that the purpose of the EPA was served, looks like keeping a checkup on the six main pollutants wasn’t enough for them.
That proper means is called property rights. Back in the 19th century, people believed in such things. When farmers had their crops destroyed by passing trains, the farmer sued the railroads. The federal courts ruled in favor of the railroads, claiming it was fine to abridge the farmer's property rights in the name of "progress". Thus, pollution was fine, as long as it was for "progress". In the UK, people own parts of rivers. Maybe we should try that here.
I know, I talk about property rights a lot and think that the solution to lots of our problems would be respecting each others' property rights rather than making a more "efficient" bureaucracy. I must just be a crazy kook.
My understanding is that even with children ingesting it lead poisoning is rare and was falling. The little damage done isn't measurable from ingestion, but the EPA cut the acceptable rate in half thus reviving lead poisoning as an issue for children.
the groups say kills 10 million to 20 million birds and other animals a year by lead poisoning.
This is sheer invention and unprovable. Let's kill them with science, aka the search for truth.
Who counted them? How many birds are killed by wind mills generating power? Trillions, no doubt. Maybe more.
Tall buildings kill the most by far, but just like the windmills, the deaths from either just entering urban areas of windmills outweigh lead poisoning, even if you call getting nailed by a shotgun lead poisoning.
Yup.
We have him (and of course our beloved congress) for that particular over-reaching government agency.
Yup.
We have him (and of course our beloved congress) to thank for that particular over-reaching government agency.
“.......which the groups say kills 10 million to 20 million birds and other animals a year by lead poisoning.”
Prove it.
I’ve heard many a leftist state that
“you don’t need to hunt and fish - that’s what a grocery store is for”.
They aren’t smart enough to understand the agenda behind this line they’ve been fed... or perhaps it just feeds their elitism to think people who hunt and fish are “lower class” than they are.
Most leftists despise the idea of self-sufficiency,
mostly because they know they couldn’t do it if they had to.
I’ve also heard a leftist, over and over again, to justify socialist programs (”they’re NOT socialist!”), say “we’re all in the same boat”.
Well, I don’t WANT to be in your “boat”, and I wouldn’t be in your boat if you weren’t using the government to FORCE me there. They just want everyone in the same sinking boat because they can’t stand the idea that someone, somewhere, is more capable than they are and could survive if the fedgov collapsed.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t we defeat this “No lead ammo” thing once already?
Actually the EPA refused to regulate ammo, stating that it neither has the authority NOR IS IT SEEKING the authority to regulate lead ammo.
These ecofacists are trying to get a judge to order the EPA to regulate lead in ammo and fishing tackle.
Fill in the blanks.
That's interesting. I've often thought a leftist is someone who can't stand the fact that somewhere someone is doing something that is not regulated or taxed somehow by the "proper authorties".
While Nixon was far from a right-wing conservative, what branch of the US Government has the authority under the Constitution to create agencies? Anyone? Anyone?
And what party controlled both houses of Congress in 1970? Anyone? Anyone?
