We need more gun laws - like they do in MEXICO prohibiting the ownership of pretty much most firearms - to be really really safe....

Just don’t give a firearm to an SUV. That’s a murdering machine, right there.

Not necessarily. Some undoubtedly were suicides, and some accidents. I virtually guarantee this.

Gotta love the comments. Even the 2nd Amendment supporters are clueless there.

Right off the bat the information in tis article is suspect. AK-47's require a federal tax stamp to own and many states deny that right at the state level. Now if they are talking AK based guns then it would be accurate. But places like the Denver post love to make things firearm related sound worse then they are in their effort to destroy the 2nd amendment.Alan Geoffrion | 5:29 AM on Tuesday Nov 2

    Yup.
I like how they break down all the other methods of obtaining a gun so that those seperate totals fall below the legal method.
Also, depciting the AK-47 in the chart was a nice touch. :)
What? No Glock depicted under the semi-auto handgun category? :)

Yeah and how many people have died on the U.S. Mexican border Washington Post? I don’t hear you communist rats wanting to ban illegals crossing the border.

I believe a couple of police have been killed by law-abiding citizens during no-knock raids. Those are the ones that really piss off the statists.

And some were LEO’s shooting each other.

How many were killed in auto traffic accidents?
How many were killed by spouses and family members?
How many were killed at their own hand?
How many were killed by friendly fire?
WaPo statistics are worthless.
It means nothing, WaPo means nothing.
I’ll keep my gun, so sayeth the Constitution.

There ought to be a law against these handguns that go around all by themselves killing innocent people and policemen.
Barring that logical impossibility, one can only wish that numbskull journalists who write tripe such as this story find a “liberal’s conversion” epiphany in the form of a desperate confrontation by a felon possessing a firearm which requires human manipulation and will to function.

Now, if the police would do their job and recover stolen firearms within 48 hours, they wouldn’t be seeing this problem, would they??? Har-De-Har-Har-Har!!!

Of the 511 murders, how many of the murderers paid with their lives (via the gunfight, death penalty)?

The only murder with a legal machine gun was a cop murdering his wife. How many persons have been murdered by cops? How many persons have been killed by gun control? Why is the new world order afraid of human rights to self defense?

Wake me up when the number of cops killed by legally owned firearms gets anywhere near the number of innocent civilians wrongly killed by law enforcement.
