Republicans gained at least 60 House seats in the Nov. 2 election, but they are positioned to win more. While Democratic incumbents hold leads in two of the six still-contested races, they trail in four others, with thousands of ballots still to be counted.

Here are the latest figures:

CA-11: Jim Costa (D) leads Andy Vidak (R) by 2,422 votes.

CA-20: Jerry McNerney (D) leads David Harmer (R) by 1,783 votes.

NY-1: Randy Altschuler (R) leads Tim Bishop (D) by 275 votes. This one could go either way.

NY-25: Ann Marie Buerkle (R) leads Dan Maffei (D) by 303 votes. The Buerkle campaign claims that most of the uncounted ballots left are in areas she carried.

TX-27: Blake Farenthold (R) leads Solomon Ortiz (D) by 789 votes.

NC-3: Renee Ellmers (R) leads Bobby Ethridge (D), aka the Lillington Strangler, by 1,489 votes. Republicans appear confident that the recount won’t change anything.

Buerkle will hold on, but not Altschuler.

The final will be +63 (242 GOP, 193 Dem)

That’s not a bad showing. It’s better than most had expected.

Altschuler is going to beat Bishop by a razor thin margin.

“Altschuler is going to beat Bishop by a razor thin margin.”

Bishop is already ahead by close to 100 if you add the challenges back in (which is usually what ends up happening).

Absentees from Smithtown were apparently very, very disappointing. Way too many Republicans voted for Bishop.

When will they call TX-27 for Farenthold??? Isn’t the recount of the recount finished, yet?

Vecchio who is the supervisor and a republican endorsed bishop. He switched parties years before, but always was a rat in many ways. The runt is over eighty years old.

I say no on CA-11 and CA-20. Maybe on NY-1. Yes on NY-25, TX-27, and NC-02.

What’s maddening is that a Tea Party candidate took 6% of the vote in CA-11. That likely cost Harmer the seat.

first of all, Jerrry McNerney and David Harmer are from District 11, not 20... secondly, i just heard today that David Harmer is now within 100 votes with about 8,000 more to count... there will likely be a recount... i am hopeful!

I know Harmer hasn’t conceded. Do you have a source for that report that has Harmer within 100?
