The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless benefits rose slightly last week, in another reminder of the continued weakness in the labor market.

Initial unemployment claims rose by 2,000 to 439,000 in the week ended Nov. 13, the Labor Department said Thursday in its weekly report. The previous week's figures were revised slightly upward to 437,000 from 435,000.

“The bad news is that we’re still hemorrhaging jobs. The other bad news is that we’re hemorrhaging jobs faster than last week. The good news is that we only hemorrhaged 439,000 jobs this week, which is just ‘a bit’ more than last week.”

Nailed it.

But never at the Labor Department.

“Now that the repubs have won, want to bet that the unemployment rate will go up over 10%?”

Right you are. Also, when the stock market has a bad day or tanks all together, the MSM will attribute it to the Republicans taking over Congress.

Local news reported the new jobless report was "good news" and now I see the reality broken out here.

Propagandized much?

Unemployment will not hit 10% until the final Friday of January 2011.

Actually it probably won’t be until the end of first quarter of 2011 so any Pub tax legislation will get the blame

Not only will they put the unemployed to 10% they will start putting in the number that have dropped off of unemployment, those that have stopped looking for work, the underemployed, those that are not employed and are not receiving unemployment because they have never been employed, and everyone else they can think of to get the number as high as they can.

In fact I'm willing to bet they will eventually go so far as to claim the unemployment has “DOUBLED” since the repubs were elected.

That has happened for years. It’s typical as late reports arrive from states.

439,000 is real close to half a million, but that’s good news according to the leftist elitist Obamatrons. Maybe that half a million unemployed Americans can get jobs in Red China?
