#1 factor. He’s a flip flopper of the kind not seen since John Kerry
1. He’s not a conservative.
List finished.
I don’t really care what caused his political demise. He would have been worse then McCain...and that’s saying something.
Mitt
I think it was the “sacred underwear”.
It goes back to this:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,941126,00.html
George Romney: “When I came back from Viet Nam, I had just had the greatest brainwashing that anybody can get when you go over to Viet Nam.”
Good grief. It’s clear that Romney’s Mormon faith played a role, but to blame it on “evangelicals” overlooks the fact that (i) he’s a RINO, and (ii) some Repubs probably realized that the secular left and mainstream media would absolutely crucify him for his faith if he was the nominee against their sainted Obama. Every LDS I’ve ever know has been righteous - it isn’t “fair” that his faith plays a role, but to blame it on evangelical Christians is a joke. And this comes from someone who isn’t one.
Well, I think the fact that Romney supported abortion, gay marriage, and government healthcare while he was governor of Massachusetts, and then proceeded to lie about it, might have something to do with it.
I think his Mormon religion probably did turn off a lot of Evangelicals, which added to his problems. Romney himself never stopped talking about it, which certainly didn’t help him.
But, frankly, he is NOT a good Mormon, either, if Mormons are pro-life and pro-family, which on the whole they are. Not as bad as Harry Reid, who should be an abomination to Mormons, but trending in that direction.
He’s not a person who tells the truth. And he used to post here under Mitt Romney.
So he probley still lurks around.
Romney was the key factor to his defeat. The same will be true if he runs again.
Those that ignore the will of the conservative voter...... will likewise lose.
The American patriots will refuse any candidate picked by the MSM and the RINOs...... such as Rove and his ilk.
“Now Mr. Romney, you have thirty seconds to rebut... yourself!”
To me the bottom line is that very few people genuinely trust Mitt Romney.
#1 He ran in the wrong party.
Well, let's see...
He used his executive power to create "gay" "marriage" in Massachusetts.
He pushed through socialized medicine, complete with $50 co-pay taxpayer-funded abortions.
He completely homosexualized the public schools and state government.
He banned guns.
And then he claimed he was a conservative.
American voters have been known to be taken in by liars, but some things are too far-fetched for even the most gullible among us.
My impression is that it was because a lot of people weren’t necessarily voting for him to win, but because they didn’t really want McCain.
The report appears to present Mitt’s flip-flopping as a figment of our bigoted imaginations:
“George Romney was never portrayed as a flip-flopper the way Mitt was”
Well, the whole "he wasn't a conservative" argument won't fly, unless you believe that McCain is a conservative.
One term governors usually don't get Republican presidential nominations. A lot of primary voters (some of whom were actually Republicans) assumed it was McCain's turn, and McCain did have more experience in national politics.
Now this time, Romney can make a case that it's his turn. But he was still only a one-term governor, so he still hasn't proven he's got what it takes.
Obama's argument that winning primaries and the convention are the equivalent of actual political -- even administrative -- experience isn't going to fly with Republicans, especially now.
To a lot of people Mitt comes across a little too much like the CEO who fired them, so, barring some kind of freak perfect political storm, he won't win the nomination or election.
There is one word.
R-I-N-O!!!
This guy tried to look more liberal than Ted Kennedy to try and get elected as a Massachusetts. Then, when that wasn’t enough, he tried to look more conservative than the other GOP. I don’t think anyone knows where on Earth this guy stands on any issues.
I thought it was because he looks fake, kinda like Max Headroom... you know with the plastic hair going on there. Really, out RINO-ing McCain and not being honest about it had more to do with his loss than anything else.
