Repeatedly, reports have shown that Obamacare will increase job loss. But what happens when those who are laid off are the workers meant to enable the health care laws expanded access of care: namely, hospital employees?
According to one hospital, layoffs of workers have already begun as a result of the new law. Leaders of Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, said that although the economy sparked this problem
the Obama Health Care Reform Act gave the hospital a one-two punch. While more people may soon get more health coverage, Obamas plan cuts reimbursement dollars for hospitals at a time administrators say they could use them most.

Well now that cinches it: a doctor having to take a second job as a Target Store billboard to make ends meet!
Bump.

I’m yet another doctor opposed to this boondoggle. What Obama is going to end up doing is assuring that almost no one sees Medicare patients because they can’t afford to. Well, in addition to driving up premiums for everyone (amongst other things).
I’m an RN. I went to a hospital job fair in California in April. The line was down 2 corridors and out the door. It was interesting talking to other people in line. The “nursing shortage” is over. Nurses are having a very hard time finding jobs, especially those just out of school. Hospitals want nurses that have been working in another hospital within the last 1-2 years. I’m also familiar with hospitals advertising for positions, while at the same time having a hiring freeze so it appears there are jobs available that actually aren’t. I have 12 years in a specialty area at one of the top hospitals for it in the world (literally). I’m coming up on 3 years out and haven’t been able to find a job since last December. I was willing to go just about anywhere. I finally gave up. I had one part time offer. A half hour before leaving for the airport to relocate, I was called and the offer was rescinded. I was told they wouldn’t be filling the position. Obamao took the best health care system in the world and broke it.

This is a direct hit on Baby Boomers by this administration and is called "targeting" which is illegal to do against any other group. I will never forget Pelosi smirking and holding that gavel high the day this atrocity was passed.
What is the demand for nurse practioners?
I am a psychologist now working for a major regional healthcare system. I am required to take Medicaid and Medicare patients, although I would make more money per hour as a WalMart greeter, given the reimbursement rates and overhead.
I am trying to figure out how I can go John Galt.
Not to worry, Doc, the death panels will work overtime to lighten your patient load.
I’m not sure, but I would assume it is going up by virtue of the fact that they get paid a lot less to do a lot of things a doctor does. Not my cup of tea- I am a bedside nurse.
The demand for nurse practitioners supposedly is going to go up, since, for various reasons, many docs nowadays choose to go into specialties instead of primary care.
At least I’m hoping, as I am studying to be an NP.
Oabam split the baby boomer vote and McCain only won the over 60 crowd by 7 points. A lot of these folks are gonna be feeling more pain. Baby boomers and seniors who voted for O must have been delusional.

bump
St Francis in Memphis announced lay offs just in the last couple of weeks. Memphis has only 1 public hospital The Regional Medical Center services about 200 miles and tri-state area. Great Trauma and NIC units, regular ER has become a 24/7/365 doctors’ office for illegals.
You can go back through the list of threads on the weekly posting to see that other hospitals in other areas are also laying off personnel. Even ins companies are laying off. Just like every ones ins premiums are going up. All because of OBAMACARE.

Obama’s WAR ON SENIORS & Business
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2613747/posts?page=3
Seniors took the brunt of obamacare. My primary care doc is retiring rather than ‘comply’. So that leaves us scrambling to find a doctor to take both Medicare/Tricare for Life. Hubby is a retired Senior Chief now 70, I’m 62 and disabled. Our military base does not do retirees. Scuttlebutt or rumor says TFL will up co-pays for RX’s and may start charging other co-pays for doc and hospital and we are not talking small ones either. And since both Medicare and TFL are paid out of the same agency...with no COLA raises for either SS or retired Military for at least 1-2 more years, we are in DEEP ..... you know what.
Not just Medicare patients. If they control how and what you can do for a patient i.e. death panels...would you continue to practice? Ratio is now 40% refusal of Medicare patients because of the low reimbursement.
I saw my Opthamologist/surgeon prior to my cataract surgery 7 weeks ago...of the $250 he charged, Medicare paid $75 and change. TFL has yet to send their statement. Hospital bill hasn’t come in yet. Nor could I up grade out of my own pocket to the better implant that would have ‘corrected’ my bad astigmatism. Now if I could only talk him into replacing a 13 year old implant that doesn’t match or work well...I’d be a happy camper as I’m very pleased with the new implant.
