Avoid Social Issues, GOP Urged (Homosexualists, Pro-Aborts Co-opt Tea Party Movement)
Politico ^ | Sunday, November 14, 2010 | Ben Smith and Byron Tau

Posted on 11/14/2010 3:38:40 PM PST by kristinn

A gay conservative group and some Tea Party leaders are campaigning to keep social issues off the Republican agenda.

In a letter to be released Monday, the group GOProud and leaders from groups like the Tea Party Patriots and the New American Patriots, will urge Republicans in the House and Senate to keep their focus on shrinking the government.

"On behalf of limited-government conservatives everywhere, we write to urge you and your colleagues in Washington to put forward a legislative agenda in the next Congress that reflects the principles of the Tea Party movement," they write to presumptive House Speaker John Boehner and Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell in an advance copy provided to POLITICO. "This election was not a mandate for the Republican Party, nor was it a mandate to act on any social issue."

The letter's signatories range from GOProud's co-founder and Chairman Christopher Barron — a member of a group encouraging Dick Cheney to run for president and who has been known to post images of his bare torso to Twitter — to Tea Party leaders with no particular interest in the gay rights movement.

As of Sunday evening, the letter had 17 signatories. They include tea party organizers, conservative activists and media personalities from across the country, including radio host Tammy Bruce, bloggers Bruce Carroll, Dan Blatt and Doug Welch, and various local coordinators for the Tea Party Patriots and other tea party groups.

"When they were out in the Boston Harbor, they weren't arguing about who was gay or who was having an abortion," said Ralph King, a letter signatory who is a Tea Party Patriots national leadership council member, as well as an Ohio co-coordinator.

King said he signed onto the letter because GOProud seemed to be genuine in pushing for fiscal conservatism and limited government.

"Am I going to be the best man at a same sex-marriage wedding? That's not something I necessarily believe in," said King. "I look at myself as pretty socially conservative. But that's not what we push through the Tea Party Patriots."

That indifference is essentially the point of the gay conservative group.

TEXT OF LETTER

Dear Senator McConnell and Representative Boehner

On behalf of limited government conservatives everywhere we write to urge you and your colleagues in Washington to put forward a legislative agenda in the next Congress that reflects the principles of the Tea Party movement.

Poll after poll confirms that the Tea Party’s laser focus on issues of economic freedom and limited government resonated with the American people on Election Day. The Tea Party movement galvanized around a desire to return to constitutional government and against excessive spending, taxation and government intrusion into the lives of the American people.

The Tea Party movement is a non-partisan movement, focused on issues of economic freedom and limited government, and a movement that will be as vigilant with a Republican-controlled Congress as we were with a Democratic-controlled Congress.

This election was not a mandate for the Republican Party, nor was it a mandate to act on any social issue, nor should it be interpreted as a political blank check.

Already, there are Washington insiders and special interest groups that hope to co-opt the Tea Party’s message and use it to push their own agenda – particularly as it relates to social issues. We are disappointed but not surprised by this development. We recognize the importance of values but believe strongly that those values should be taught by families and our houses of worship and not legislated from Washington, D.C.

We urge you to stay focused on the issues that got you and your colleagues elected and to resist the urge to run down any social issue rabbit holes in order to appease the special interests.

The Tea Party movement is not going away and we intend to continue to hold Washington accountable. Sincerely,

Christopher R Barron

“Observe those individuals who falsified their income on FRAUDULENT Liar Loans - and CAUSED the financial crisis.”

And those people and their loans would have never touched me or my life except the US Government and the banks had an agreement, they would make the loans, and that I would be taxed via the FED and inflation to make the banks whole.

Once again, this banking crisis would have been unthinkable under constitutional government with no federal reserve. Instead of printing a few billion, the government would have had to directly try to collect 40 thousand from each of us. Instant revolt.,,,

There is a military saying “amateurs study tactics, professionals study logistics”. Same applies here, Amateurs prattle on about wanting to change the morals of the nation through law, and never realize they can win the whole war with a return to the ultimate morality of aconstitutional economic policy.

You are not reading the my post clearly. I am not an abortion or gay rights supporter. I am a religious fiscal and social conservative. But I also deal in facts.

The official Tea Party platforms never mentioned abortion or gay rights. People apparently are unaware of what they were really about.

Well, crap. >:-(

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am to see some of the groups and names on this list. :*(

As for me and mine, we choose the FOUNDING FATHERS on *ALL* social issues today that are un-holy (abortion, same sex marriage) and un-Biblical, and that’s that. Forget all this RINO stuff about ‘most Tea Party members just want small government and less taxes’—that’s just a FRACTION of what WE THE PEOPLE out here in flyover country are fighting for! >:-(

Please note that the writers of this letter are mostly “gay” activists who want to use the Tea Party movement to promote the homosexual agenda.

You consider them allies?

“Without its moral basis, there is no America. There is no possibility of self-government in liberty.”

And this is true,, but ponder this. The ultimate in morality, and the main moral point of the constitution was that government be chained, and that the money was backed, and the value set by legislation.

Now we have an agreement that the FED issues money to the USA as they see fit (and charges us interest). Congress gets unlimited money to spend on immorality, without needing to tax. The FED taxes and isn’t responsible for the spending! It’s a total nightmare that is the true source of all you oppose.

To get you back on track. We are talking about the Tea Party in 2009-2010, not the historical Tea Party.

Since you have refused to address any of the facts I posted about the Tea Party platforms not mentioning social issues like abortion or gay rights, I can only conclude that you are purposely refusing to admit your mistake.

There are different types of conservatives. The Tea Party unified them under a common set of beliefs such as taxes, smaller government, and less spending.

>>If I recall correctly, there is a study

And you can put that study where the sun don’t shine for all it’s worth. There’s no guarantee the moral/deviant standing of the “studiers” will be any less skewed than that of those who produced the global warming facade.

Desensitization of the population is a stated goal of the Marxist demoralizers seeking to destroy this country.

The historical evidence is clear that socio-biological fitness DECLINES for EVERY society that normalizes the abomination of nature - As evidence by the popular sexual miscreants in charge of Nazi Germany.

So NO SALE.

Why the vulgarity, oh paragon of virtue? I havent been rude to you, and i even call you “FR friend”.

Since you appear to be well-meaning but coarse, i will put it like this In the movie “Independence Day”, you would be the man chasing one alien down the street instead of killing the mothership.

Get the mothership, and all the aliens are toast, see?

The utter destruction of our economy is hardly a roof shingle. The Fed has stolen about 95% of the dollars value since it’s creation. That is THE problem with America. Let me clue you in, eternal deficit spending and the creation of fiat money was done for exactly one reason, to finance the progressive revolution you claim to be fighting. If you truly want to end Abortion, and a host of social issues that seem to be hurting us, then a return to constitutional government is the broad spectrum drug to kill ALL these infections. What is demonstrated to be ineffective is fighting issue by issue,, drugs here, national health care there, gays here, abortion there. Ever notice, as you struggle to put out one fire, another flares up? Thats not an accident FR friend. It’s the design. Turn off the gas well at the pipline, and the leaks and fires all die out.

You hit the nail precisely on the head. Starve the Beast of power & government money and this puppet show of emotionally-charged issues -- that have us at each other's throats-- end.

It isn't abortion or the homosexual agenda that have the majority of people up in arms -- it's seeing their wallets being robbed and their freedoms taken away. Abortion and the homosexual agenda have been pushed through by the Liberals, ultimately as prerogatives of having power. Take their power away, and they've got nothing. And that's what we just did. Now, it's a matter of keeping that power -- and the best way to keep power is not to abuse it by introducing socially divisive issues other than what was already stated -- lower taxes, smaller government and a less intrusive government. That's where the power of the Tea Party is. Work on fixing government & the economics first so that people know that they can depend on you for these issues, then you can risk exercising the prerogatives of power if you so choose. But until our people put their money where their mouth is -- and deliver on their campaign promises -- that power could be temporary and fleeting by the next election.

The point is that the Boston Tea Party didn’t HAVE to protest against judicially mandated abortions or gay rights that included brainwashing kindergarteners, because not even King George would have thought up such horrible ideas.

Not even Mad King Ludvig of Bavaria or Ivan the Terrible would have thought up such crazy ideas.

If King George had, then they certainly would have protested and refused to obey. Boston was a Christian settlement. A Puritan settlement. They didn’t protest it because it never occurred to anyone to impose such rotten ideas on them.

Believe me, the great majority of conservatives in this country, and of members of the Tea Party, are opposed to government mandated abortions and gay “rights.”

Things have gone so far in England that there was a story yesterday that judges are refusing to allow Christians to adopt children, simply because they are Christians. The children they adopted might turn out to be gay, and Christians would be unfit to bring them up. But we can be sure that such judicial decisions will not be extended to Muslims, even if there was some risk that they might cut off their gay kids’ heads.

No, I don’t see. You’re the one ignoring the disease and putting all your focus on the symptoms.

America can survive without money or material power, and rise again. It has before, several times.

But without its moral base, the self-evident truth that the founders spoke of at the founding, and the consequent commitment to the constitutional and legal protection of the unalienable rights of the people, all the people, America is dead.

I’m pretty sure I never suggested the Federal Government did not have the constitutional mandate to project power in defense of the nation and its interests. What I object to is it’s constant unrelenting assault on the 10th amendment by means of federal spending and taxation. We are talking primarily about domestic issues when talking about the Tea Party movement.

I will ask nicely, please refrain from your low-brow name calling. If you wouldn’t do it in person then don’t do it online. I’m fairly certain if you knew me you would not do it in person.

So it is of no consequence to you that doctors are killing millions of American babies every year. That they too often throw these unborn children into dumpsters. That I’m required to contribute my tax money to people who, I believe, are committing murder. And it is just peachy when these same so-called doctors take late term babies, who’se heads exit the vagina, stick a scissors in their heads and then suck the brains out. Oh, and they’ll tell you the baby feels no pain. Only problem with that is that these babies scream as they’re killed.

And all this is really ok in the name of irresponsible sex. I think your sense of morality is screwd up.

Look. Here is the problem.

Abortion is murder. Nobody who looks at the broken, bloodied, hacked-up bodies of babies burned alive and dismembered in their mothers’ wombs or decerebrated and beheaded even as they are being born, can deny that this is the violent murder of a human being. No culture that permits such brutal, abominable cruelty can long survive. There *IS* a God, and He will not accept excuses for such things as the shedding of innocent blood.

For the sodomites, we don’t really care what they do. The problem is that the sodomites want more than tolerance. They want to flaunt their perversions in our faces. They want to indoctrinate our children. They want to destroy the traditional definition of what constitutes a family, upon which our nation was based. If they are allowed to prevail, we will see polyamorous, pedophilic, incestuous, and even bestial “families” emerging, if God doesn’t allow our destruction beforehand.

Finally, fiscal conservatism must be linked with social responsibility and Biblical morality. If you are fiscally conservative and a moral libertine, moral depravity will ultimately get the best of you, and no amount of money will repair the damage.

With the exception of abortion murder, allow people to make choices.

However, we must be FREE to teach our children that NOT every choice is acceptable or honorable.

There is no better way to judge the character of a man than by the choices he makes.

BUT ee must be FREE to teach our children that certain ideologies are harmful and even murderous, like communism and islam.

The sodomites, perverts, libertines, and islamophiles do not want you to be free. They want you to be required by law to affirm their perversions.

Here’s a deal. I won’t flaunt my sexuality in your face if you won’t flaunt yours in mine.

I won’t force indoctrination of your children if you don’t force the indoctrination of mine.

I won’t force you to do business with or rent a home to my Christian family if you do not force me to do business with or rent a home to unmarried “couples” or sodomites.

There's only ONE Tea Party - and that's The American one - and it doesn't need Vanguard elite Libertardian TWITS like you speaking for it and telling individuals not to oppose the GOProud homosexual agenda;  when Individuals, for whom Almighty God hath Created the Mind Free, can see the self-evident Truth for themselves: that the agenda of GOProud is an ABOMINATION OF NATURE.

I know what I saw and heard with my own eyes and ears at the multiple events I attended  - and I don't give a shyte what YOU or the "official" sponsors/pirates have to say to contradict that experience.

Take your "Fiscally Conservative" Cloward/Pliven non-"Solution" to the Crisis  - the Crisis that  Log-Cabin "Fiscally Conservative" RINOs/RATs created in the first place -- and shove it.

“homosexualty and abortion are not “social issues”. They are moral and ethical issues (issues of right and wrong) which cannot be overlooked because they undermine and attack what America is and stands for. A real social issue? How do we treat our poor?”

You are 100% correct here. This needs to be the standard response whenever the pro-death and/or fudgeback crowd pulls this nonsense.

You want to allign yourself with them?

Let's go back and re-visit what I said...

As for gay rights, Gays aren't asking for "equal" Rights any more. Like every other special interest group, they want extra-privileges. I'm sorry, but you can't be FOR limited government and still want that same government to give you something more than anyone else gets.

Now... Maybe in jl's little bizarro world, that sounds like I'm aligning with their stance. In the real world, that is a condemnation of the "gay agenda".

Unless merely not agreeing with this puff piece isn't enough for you and I need to up my stance to calling for the extermination of all gays? Would that be more to your liking?

“until our people put their money where their mouth is — and deliver on their campaign promises — that power could be temporary and fleeting by the next election.”

Amen. The economy is a disaster, and is a difficult fix because the opposition is determined to trasform America into a socialist economy.

You want to see an orgy of abortion and gay-agenda in the USA, just watch what follows if the repubs focus on the wrong issues first, and get the economy wrong. We will see a reelected Obama, a resurgent democrat party and the conservatives won’t get another change for a decade. Then it will truly get bad,, far worse than today on ever social issue. Try imagining straight-out national single payer like England. Try a “right” to abort at government expense (most of europe), try the end of homeschooling (germany) Try banning Christians as foster parents at the request of gays (england).

The stakes couldn’t be higher.
