Sometimes I think we should move the capital periodically. Like, make East St Louis the US capital for 20 years. Then Detroit. Then Hartford. Then ...

They want to redistribute the wealth, that would do it.

Plus due to affirmative action where “minorities” are 30-40-60-70% of some Federal agencies, the richest blacks in America live in the counties surrounding DC your imperial capital modern day Rome. IIRC it was two counties, one of them Prince George, that had the richest blacks. Hispanics have not yet hopped on board the Federal gravy train. Women are also massively favored in Federal hiring in DC. White guys, shut up and pay your taxes to support these useless eaters

Pay your tribute, serfs!!

Yup. I lived there for fifteen years. The mentality of your average suburban Washingtonian is something to behold, in a perverse sort of horror flick way. Our tax money goes in, and this is where the fattest pigs feed - at the headwaters of the slop trough when it comes back out for 'redistribution'. We could probably industrialize half of Third World Africa with what's diverted and skimmed off the top. Not that your average African country would know what to do with it, other than to buy better machetes to hack each other up with.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

The stinking clowns that have been running our government consider themselves royalty and why
not...they collect all the taxes and pay themselves whatever they deign enough. I just hope
our military are on our side when they push it too far.

And I consider them going too far, for far too long now.

I left Montgomery Co. where I grew up and drove to NM. In Oklahoma the only radio station I could find had Rush on it.

That’s the day I started to change.

Only 1 out of 7 employees in Fairfax County (#2 on the Drudge list) is a United States government employee.

The other 6 out of 7 employees work for private sector folks or FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS.

Frankly, the private sector work pays much better.

Last count I saw we had 125,000 lawyers, and you don't hardly find that kind of density anywhere.

What you people need to do is go after the lawyers. First kill most of them. Then, bring down their fee schedules.

That'd go a long way toward bringing property values and incomes into line with national averages. But kvetching about the government employees making too much when it's pretty clear it's government contractors, non-profits, and lawyers making all the bucks is just not appropriate. If you're not willing to go after the real bad guys why go after the others.

God bless ya, brother. It wasn't too terribly bad in the 80's in suburban Maryland. I had my good times there. But by the time Clinton's second term rolled around, everything within 25 miles of the DC line had become an intolerable cesspool of petty, deluded Leftist arrogance. The liberal culture and its associated group-think that was so much a monkeys-at-the-zoo amusement had become a rabid gorilla let loose in the streets. Inasmuch as I silently bitch about where I am and when I am at this juncture, thinking about still being there kind of tempers my outlook on my existence.

The government contractors, lawyers, etc., are de facto government employees.

Bob Hope used to do a joke saying he frequently visited Washington because he liked to be close to his money.

Yes, we slimy Beltway Bandits are essentially quasi-government employees.

Yes, the Libs here are pretty "wack," but it least it's not yet San-Fran-Sicko.

Be that as it may, my own experience as a "servitor" for the Imperial Government demonstrates on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis that the last thing that the average citizen should want is the growth of government power.

I am constantly witnessing the waste and abuse of the taxpayer's money by clueless, petty, and arrogant bureaucrats who are more focused on their personal agendas rather than the good of the nation and getting the best value for the taxpayer's money.

Well said, and what most of these people don’t understand is that most (Federal) government employees GS 12 and above are very well educated running or participating in the managment of multi million (or billion) dollar programs.

For example, my father ran a 20 billion program as a GS-13 making mid 90k. You can’t find that low pay to program ration anywhere in outside industry.

So backoff fly over country cause most of you don’t have a clue and couldn’t cut it here in this rat race called DC.

Still, they aren't employees at all. They are supplicants.

That's a fancy word for "leaches" and "parasites". Some of them also, on the side, operate the world's largest oil company ~ well, doggone, yes, we have some hard core extractive industries with huge pieces of their core operations right here in Fairfax County.

Social Security is located up in Baltimore county, BTW, not here.

Some of the best backstabbers in the world live in MD, DC and NoVA. I've come out of there feeling like the guest of honor at Julius Caesar's assassination.

If true, it appears we get what we pay for, as far as the salaries go anyway.

Only 1 out of 7 may be a govt. employee, but many others are involved in government contracts. Their pay still comes from the taxpayers.
