Ok,
That settles that question...then if a NOTAM was filed....that leaves US entities. Somebody just began a private space program...look for some consortium of Silicon Valley billionaires to be high-fiving each other real soon.
That NOTAM was for an “unmanned aircraft” not a missile.
Will, speaking of not being too ready to believe what folks are saying...
upon further investigation, I’m of the opinion that the NOTAM data I posted has nothing to do with our mystery missile. “VCV” is the airspace in and around the airport at Victorville, CA (KVCV), entirely the opposite direction from LAX (KZLA) that you’d expect if it applied to the event we’re discussing on this thread.
The NOTAM regards operations of unmanned aircraft below 5400ft within 5 nautical miles of the Victorville facility and advises avoidance. Turns out the city of Victorville is [fanfare] 5 nautical miles from the airport, and runway elevation is 2885ft above sea level.
So, what it looks like is some retired guys or school kids had plans on the books to operate R/C aircraft or engage in a little hobby rocketry at or below 2500feet above ground level during school hours Monday-Wendesday this week.
Definitely not sea-launched missile related.
