So what happens when a terrorist tries to smuggle a bomb in a laptop? Or a cell phone?
To: mikey_hates_everything
So if something is hidden in a piece of luggage next time, is that it for passenger air travel?Toner cartridges no good, but "Suitcase Nukes" still OK, as long as they are clearly identified as "Suit Case Nuke" on the bill of lading.

The US has banned toner and ink cartridges from passenger aircraft in the wake of last month's bomb plot. We're fortunate that they didn't take such measures after the "underwear bomber" last year.

Why not just ban all people from any activity whatsoever? That’s what these Leftists want.

Gee, guess now we’ll have to get our toner/cartridges via ships into our ports, where they also observe the “trusted shipper” policy, and only 9% (or so) of all containers get inspected.
I feel so much safer now, don’t you? :-(

Nah, people can fly, just no luggage allowed (LOL) Now, if there are any threats posed by passengers themselves, well then.........
oh, wait.......seems we’ve been there before.

Or “color” cartridges, as the PCs call them. One way or another it’s messed up.

There’s this comment from time to time; I get that it’s a joke, but it needs reminding that this just would cause trouble with wealthy Jewish executives (among, say, all other Jews, just saying) without doing zilch about taqiyya-enforcing Muslim terrorists.
To: ponygirl
I heard some of the 9/11 hijackers were trained as pilots, so it’s only logical we ban all pilots on airplanes. ;)
To: Beaten Valve
Just get it all over with, and make people fly naked with no luggage allowed.

That would be cartridges of color, and although they themselves are a-sexual, they can print the entire LGBT rainbow with the push of a button so it is most definitely profiling!
To: unixfox
Bingo! I am all for profiling PEOPLE; not items!

I DO live overseas and I do take my cartridges with me. They are six times more expensive to buy where I live when I can get them—which I probably can’t anymore. This will probably require me to find another country from which I can purchase them. Maybe I can find a good deal in Yemen.

Good idea Barry, if they try to send a bomb in it...ban it. It’ll take a while before they run out of things to put bombs into. Where are Blackberries actually manufactured?

Gee, I always have a spare toner cartridge in my luggage.
Now, what am I going to do?/s
Beyond stupid, totally reactionary response.
This will not make us any safer. THese people still suffer from a failure of imagination.

They do, however, have a backlog with which to deal: underpants, shoes, etc. Fly naked! No baggage and no cargo. That should fix it.
On a more serious note: That's one of the reasons high speed rail is so popular in Europe. When you have to spend an hour at the airport just to have your genitals touched and your luggage searched für printer ink, and you need another half hour each to get to and from the airport, a 200 mph train is not only less humiliating, it's also just as fast.

I always carry in my luggage, a piece of 3” diameter 1’ long piece of black pipe with the screw caps on the ends...but I never carry printer cartridges....
Is that wrong?
