New House Judiciary Chairman to Obama: Prepare for Investigations
Veteran Congressman will head influential House Judiciary Committee
By Jim Forsyth
Thursday, November 4, 2010

The San Antonio Congressman who is in line to become chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee is promising 'a number of investigations and oversight committee actions' which he vows will 'hold the administration accountable,’ 1200 WOAI news reports.

Veteran Republican Lamar Smith, a Yale graduate and social conservative who grew up in the brush country of south Texas which is now transit point for illegal immigrants and drugs, said in a news conference that a number of issues will come into the sights of his committee when he takes the chairmanship in January, from cracking down on child pornography to taking the Obama Administration to task for failing to do enough to protect the southern border.

Smith says it is his Constitutional duty.

"Part of that checks and balances is in fact holding the administration accountable, is in fact insisting on more transparency, is insisting on more honesty, and getting the facts," Smith said. "Right now, because of the one party monopoly, the Administration has been able to dodge any kind of supervision, any kind of oversight committee action, and they refuse to testify, and that is no longer acceptable."

I wonder what Republicans voted to install Holder even knowing how racist and corrupt he is.

Ha, ha.

No impeachment is necessary or advised. Just aggravate the crap out of obozo. Threaten, make them wonder, make him smoke more and look more ashen gray and blue lipped. Make him suffer and suffer and suffer. Just like he has made us suffer the last two years and beyond with his high handed actions.

Oh, I hope this is good. I think we are pretty much screwed economically and the margins with nearly an even split of the nation socially and politically make it unlikely that we will have the collective resolve for true change. We may as well get some entertainment out of it.

This is WRONG and will backfire on the GOP. America does not want this - at this time. The house is on FIRE and we want to investigate who is to blame? There is PLENTY of blame to go around - R’s and D’s. Let’s not go down this road. AMERICA WANTS JOBS - CHANGE - A FUTURE.

This is not how to go about bringing any of the above.

I doubt the Republicans will look at silly things. There is real corruption on he political left with the banks. We need to appoint a speical prosecutor and have it all investigated and exposed. It will take a couple of years.

That was political theater because the Republicans know Obama will move to destroy evidence as he knows what is coming.

I hope Republicans just stand on principal. Oversight is their constitutional duty and if Democrats condemn them for oversight (the media) just point out that the American people already know the Democrats believe the constitution and rule of law gets in the way of their daily actions. That is a lot of the reason they lost power.

You don’t think Obama knows hearings are coming up and what those hearings will be about? Republicans are informing the public.

They should put the investigations on the back burner rather than acting like a bunch of kangaroo court democrats.

I'd have to agree, EXCEPT when it's necessary to force action, like securing the borders.

The DOJ is does have honest people who will not lie and cover up for this administration and Holder. In addition Holder is a racist and has probably harmed a lot of people. It is not to Obama’s advantage that a lot of this corruption is centered in the DOJ.

Americans want accountability for this economic disaster/sham. They know politicans are involved in the banking scam and they are not happy about it.

The bottom line is - whether the media spins the public or not - the constitution requires oversight and prosecution of corruption. Republicans can not appease the public by turning their backs on the constitution.

Hopefully the Republicans will hold hearings and then turn it over to an honest speical prosecutor who will not be political.

Republicans voting to approve Holder ... (the usual suspects with a few surprises)

Murkowski; Sessions (?!); Kyl; McCain; Chambliss; Isakson; Grassley; Lugar; Collins; Snowe; Bond; Gregg; Voinovich; Graham; Alexander; Corker; Bennett; Hatch

Thanks.

Here’s the list of Republican Senators who voted to confirm Holder. It reads like the who’s who of Rino corruption:

Kyl (AZ)
McCain (AZ)
Chambliss (GA)
Isakson (GA)
Lugar (IN)
Collins (ME)
Snowe (ME)
Bond (MO)
Gregg (NH)
Voinovich (OH)
Bennet (UT)

This is the socialist wing of the Republican party and they will do all they can to derail everything - including the outcome of hearings into corruption. Alot of them are probably corrupt and they do run cover for their friends accross the aisle. They have no respect for the constitution and rule of law if they voted for Holder.

Where does the foreign money come from? Is it supposed to be interest from a bank? Think about how much money you would have to deposit in a bank to get $1,600,000 in interest in one year.

Soros?
