In this election, a lot of Republicans ran against Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, etc., even though they weren't the opponent, because it is smart politics to point to undesirables within the other party to scare off voters.

COD was the poster child boogeyman that Democrats loved to talk about as a way to demonize Republicans as a whole. "Vote for a Republican, and nutters like her will be running the country." Democrats I spoke/debated with prior to the election loved talking about her, and it wasn't because of anything Rove said. It was because of her.

I'd probably agree that Rove went too far, but I completely understand the desire to distinguish the party as a whole from the attractive, but otherwise sorely lacking, COD.

Bruce Campbells Chin: “It was because of her.”

No. It wasn’t because of HER, because they don’t know HER. They know OF her. How do they know of her? They know of her based on what the media, including Rove, tells them. A picture was painted. It was negative. Rove helped.

I see no one is blaming Maher for putting out that clip
of Odonnell where she admits to dabling in witchcraft.
I cringed when I saw her “I’m not a witch” and it all
just helped reinforce the image people were starting to
have of her as someone who’s a little wacko. If Sharron
Angle, who was a slightly better candidate than ODonnell
couldn’t beat Reid, what makes anyone think Christine even
had a chance in a deep blue state.

“...Democrats I spoke/debated with prior to the election loved talking about her, ....”

My point was that he PUBLICALLY railed and smeared her. He’s entitled to think that she wasn’t the best candidate; but what he did was give the Dems more ammunition in an already heated debate.

And Rove/the GOP did virtually NOTHING to help this candidate. She won the primary; the GOP should have helped her, no matter what.

We should keep our disagreements private, is my point. He acted like a classless, arrogant, elitist jerkoff.

Water under the bridge now. We still wound up winning big time.

“Bruce Campbells Chin”, Eh? Yeah...I liked “Army of Darkness” too!!! Hahah! (”Good, Bad, what difference does it make? I’m the guy with the Gun.”)
