Jerry Brown , governor redux, and California exits left
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 11/3/10 | Debra J. Saunders

California voters have spoken -- and for the most part, they decided to stop the wave of anti-Democratic voting that swept the nation at the Sierras.

Now California will have a Democratic governor, Democratic Legislature and with the passage of Prop. 25, Democratic budgeting process. For years now, the Dems have been blaming the Republican minority for the state's budget woes. That's over for the next two years. Whatever happens next with California -- it will be on Jerry Brown and his party. I sure hope Brown will prove to be the maverick he hinted he would be.

Talk to your average California Republican voter and you heard little enthusiasm for Meg Whitman. Conservatives voted for Whitman because she wasn't Jerry Brown. . . .

Yes, the term should be “Go East young man”.

Anyone with 1/2 a brain would leave that festering pile of crap and go where freedom is cherished. It sure ain’t CA.

Disagree about Colorado. The problem here is the Republicans have been divided since Bill Owens backed Referendums C and D and split the party over a Senate nomination. We should easily have won Governor and Senate this year but the Tea Party saddled us with weak candidates.

I saw the same thing in the Kansas 3rd where Republican splits kept Dennis Moore in office for a decade. They finally quit fighting and the district went back to us this year. How long before Colorado Republicans learn the lesson it's the Democrats we oppose?

I did and their arrogant attitude towards us "politically immature and ignorant interior and backwoods of America" isn't going to sit well when they come demanding a bailout.

"The Republicans in Congress must build a fiscal fence around California."

There is NO WAY a GOP House will allot a single dime to bail out CA.

They'll even stop, or redirect to capital projects, the remaining "stimulus" monies which were originally targeted to preserve public employee jobs.

We are now set for Government Shutdown II. Let's hope the GOP wins this time.

The most conservative House in 100yrs vs the most liberal WH ever...and both will be uncompromising.

I believe the Senate will roll with the House, for the most part, as there are 21 dim Senators up in 2012. We can get 60 votes in the Senate for most things fiscally conservative.

However, we'll not easily get 2/3 in either body to overturn a veto. And, there will be many vetos.

This might actually be a public relation gold mine for the Republicans if they have the cojones to do it.

As mentioned in the article's first paragraph - OK California & Democrats, you have the governorship, the legislature, the budget process by an overwhelming majority.

Now the eyes of the nation, in fact the eyes of the world, are upon you. Show us how it's done.

Show us how a liberal democrat society creates jobs, balances budgets, delivers vital government services, reduces crime, poverty, & homelessness, deals with illegal immigration & drugs. Show us how liberals reduce racial tensions and run successful high quality educational institutions

We're watching.

And as California inevitably slides deeper into debit, corruption, systemic failure, cultural & racial chaos, force the Nation to watch, do not allow them to look away or make excuses. Watch in horror what is always the end result of Democrat/Socialist control.

Will Jerry Brown actually govern or will it be his wife?

Jerry, in addition to being gayer than Christmas in Honduras, has lost whatever marbles the Jesuits gave him. He was a blithering idiot during the campaign.

Of course his "wife," tells him what to do. I wouldn't be surprised if she has to feed him and dress him. The real mystery is "Why would any American vote for this guy? " Are we sure that this wasn't massive vote fraud? I have seen estimates that there are over 500,000 faulty registrations in CA. Having once lost a school board election in CA by 1800 votes to 635, with 2250 registered in the district, it is something that would not surprise me.

Can we be racist shall for a second, and call it the DMF (The dead Mexican Factor)?

Loretta Sanchez, who IMHO is the patron saint of vote fraud, even had DEAD illegal aliens voting for her.

” The entire state will become a haven/refuge for illegals, and every costly Green Anti America Scam will become legal. “

This was on the wall. I know you live in a nice place, and so did I (Malibu), but I left in 06 because I could see California was hopeless. To me it is an absolute tragedy!

That’s because all the Californians, who lost their jobs and moved to those other states to get away from high tax, incredible cost of living etc. brought their fuzzy thinking with them. You need to set up roadblocks and demand to see their voter registration before you let them pass out of California. If they’re democrats they can’t pass.

It’s almost incredible that CA (where I lived during Moonbeam’s miserable governorship) would actually have dredged up this living dead hippie and propped him up in the governor’s mansion again.

Brown actually did well as Mayor of Oakland, oddly enough, but he was a complete failure as Governor and seems to have been apologizing for his success as mayor (when he adopted many stricter policing policies and even pro-market economic policies) ever since.

Repeal Prop 13 and things are going to get REALLY ugly for alot of homeowners who have had their homes for years in nice neighborhoods and can comfortably afford them because their taxes are not outlandish. My Dad is one of these people. Custom built house in 1979 on 2.8 acres. Totally paid off (he was a small business owner now retired) The house has more then tripled in value because of the area its in, he can afford to stay in it because the taxes are reasonable. There are alot of people who will get hosed if this happens.
