The Talk Shows
Sunday, October 24th, 2010
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Pat Toomey, Republican nominee for Senate in Pennsylvania; Joe Manchin, Democratic nominee for Senate in West Virginia.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.; former Bush adviser Karl Rove.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine; retired Gen. Hugh Shelton, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Florida Senate debate with Republican nominee Marco Rubio, Democratic nominee Kendrick Meek and independent Charlie Crist.
I don’t look at any of this as “new.” It’s the same old playbook they’ve used over and over. Throw enough lies on the wall and maybe some will stick.
Better for us to point out how if one or a few are outright lies and misleading, they the rest is suspect and probably more of the same. One lie makes every other comment questionable. Two and it’s a pattern which begs the question of why are they afraid to run on their record and positions?
LOL,LOL!!
I just hate to see you sounding so discouraged.
However, you are on the front lines and know more than the rest of us.
Good idea,I really like the part about forcing them to run on their record which no on seems to do.
“Not one voter in 20 understands that we are all facing major tax increases on January 1 because the RATS refused to take action to stop the tax increases before adjournment.
The GOP had better turn up the heat on this issue. This could be the defining, strong-finish ad in the final 96 hours from coast-to-coast.”
I totally agree!!! I don’t know why the Pubbies don’t seem to mention it more. Normally, there’s a questions during the debates to the effect of: how do you plan to pay for the tax cuts for the rich - and they usually stumble over that question (or at least from what I’ve seen).
As I’ve posted before on FR, why don’t Pubbies have a pat answer for that question when it comes up so often (e.g. it will be a tax INCREASE to millions of Americans if the Bush tax cuts aren’t passed). I think Rubio just mentioned the revenues were greater when the Regan tax cuts were passed; and, others have mentioned that businesses aren’t investing and hiring because of the uncertainty of the Obamanation healthcare bill and the uncertainty of potential tax increases.
What about mentioning the % of those that aren’t paying taxes, the % of all taxes being paid by the top 5 or 10%, and the number of small businesses that fall in the tax % that the so called rich pay. The Pubbies should have had very crisp, concise answers and talking points for this long ago and have kept repeating those answers so that they would be in the minds of and on the lips of most voting Americans now./rant off
LOL, Luvit, Miss Marple! Limousine Liberals are Losers!
Hi Rodguy,
Thanks for your review of ABC’s “This Week.” I’m glad I missed it - my BP no doubt would have gone through the roof. I chose to watch Michael Steele who did a good job of deflecting Gregory’s traps. Gave it up though when the panel got on.
Things are looking somewhat positive here in NM. The ABQ Journal has endorsed the entire Republican Congressional slate plus this a.m. endorsed the Hispanic Republican candidate for Governor, who has a double-digit lead.
Steve Pearce, candidate for NM-2, just was on for a half hour on the local Sunday news opinion show — the questions were fair and gave him a chance to discuss his conservative positions and decry the out-of-state ads by the libs, probably Soros funded. He has between a 2 and 9 point lead in the polls, depending on the source. Unfortunately, he will probably be the only one elected as the Dems have a lead in the other races.
Bottom line, if the Dems don’t get those Wilmington welfare class voters out, COD will win this. As I stated upthread, with Castle they never had to bother...the Dems that is. The Dems were perfectly happy with Castle so they let the Kent and sussex county voters vote Castle in without needing any major get-out-the-vote effort.
This year, in a mid-term election, with voters never known for any great voting zeal, for the first time in maybe a gazillion years they GOT to get these voters out.
I don’t think anybody has a clue how this will go. I’m quite sure Obama and Biden got the mighty unions on board and come next Tuesday we’ll have free smokes to those who hop on for a ride to the poll.
But you never know.
THIS eventuality, more than any fault of COD, might cost the election but if I’m wrong I shall be happier to be wrong than anyone on the plant.
And I am discouraged, mostly over how the GOP Blue Bloods have turned against us. They’re supporting Murkowski over Miller in Alaska, anybody don’t think they’re helping Crist in Fl I got a bridge to sell cheap, and they’re happy to see COD get put out with the trash even though she said or did nothing wrong.
Recall that Sarah herself said, just recently and it wasn’t idle talk I don’t believe, that if this GOP doesn’t act....folks do not then lecture us about third party cause I’d rather have a third party of serious conservatives to build on and leave those Blue Blood GOP’s out to pasture.
Without us tea party radicals the GOP whithers away to nothingville.
It will be interesting to see if Sarah brings Michael Steele along with her. He has been at her side for the tea party rallies and given a good speech and introduction for her. This will be the acid test for the RNC, even though its very late in the game.
BTW, Fox News Sunday announced they will have Sarah on their show next week.
In fact I heard, but do NOT hold me to this, that Sarah and Steele will be in Delaware next Sunday. Remember, we have TWO big races here in Del., not that anybody pays much attention to Urquhart, who is running for Castle’s old House seat.
That would be just the final zap that could force the campaign, one or both, over the winning line.
I hope I’m right.
This was the topic of my last letter to the editor at the Denver Post.
Miller coming up on Fox News to discuss latest Princess Lisa family’s tactics to force him to reveal his personnel records.
Steele could have said, throwing it out there guys, that COD WAS RIGHT ABOUT SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE NOT BEING IN THE CONSTITUTION!”
Fishtalk, it was so disappointing that so few came to her defense regarding this. Not only should more people have acknowledged that she was correct, but they should have elaborated that the establishment clause was designed to keep the government out of religion, not religion out of government, that the thinking was to prevent the government from forming a Church of the United States of America or some other national religion.
It’s not a hard concept to understand. It only gets complicated when elite libs try to play with the words.
If Sarah shows up; she needs to pound home that Christine was right re: the Constitution. Steele did blow it this morning, but that is exactly what I expect from the establishment RINO Steele.
The complaint against Buck really are out of context. Buck caught himself and corrected the government/economy statement. More importantly, Buck was RIGHT! Less government intrusion helps business and the market.
Buck bucked the state party establishment and he has great support across the state. One of the pundits commented that once Buck is elected all these claims of him being extreme or out of touch will fall by the wayside.
Buck will do well, much better than what Bennet has done over these past two years as he’s bowed down to the great 0 and supported every bill Harry Reid put in front of him.
Not mentioned, other than local talk radio, is Bennet’s father was head of NPR for 12 years or so. None of the media seems to think it might be important to ask Bennet his opinion about Juan Williams getting canned unfairly.
Thanks for the heads up.
The Dims are now calling Lisa a liar. This race sure has had some twists and turns!

I want to know what’s this about a “retired” judge? Since when do retired judges make official rulings?
As an aside, man I didn’t know there were so many ex-Pennsylvanians here in the swamps but of late all I been hearing is about these baseball play-offs.
Well it don’t take much to hone in on my radar when the guy on my church council said do NOT tell him anything about the game as he’s taping it and everyone round me wearing red and, if nothing us, give those Philly fans for being the loudest on the planet.
So I watch last night, yes I do. It was a good game and by now I’m rooting for the Phillies as by now is all of Delaware. But I watched that Philly guy, yes I did in front of my own lying eyeballs, stand and watch what had to be the most perfect, the most beautiful, the sweetest little strike waft right past his mid-section, also perfectly placed and I thought I was dreaming. Called strike three, you can’t make this stuff up. The Philly stadium got quiet you could hear a mouse running about. Talk about your heartbreak.
Husband says that guy will have all winter to think about it.
