COSTA MESA A woman drove for months with a dead mummified body in her passenger's seat before the body was discovered by police, authorities said.
Police are still trying to determine the exact cause and time of death of the unidentified woman, but the body of the woman had withered to roughly 30 pounds by the time it was discovered, authorities said.
(snip)
The driver told police she was afraid to contact police about the body, so she continued to use the car.
According to the advanced state of decomposition, officials believe the woman had been dead anywhere from three to 10 months, Everett said.

Q2. Did the local kids think it was just the creepy old lady from neighborhood watch? Remember the creepy old neighbor in the original Home Alone comedy?
Well he played Ed Gein (the basis of the movie Psycho) in a 1970s movie called "Deranged".
And the real Ed Gein used to babysit. There weren't any reports that he physically abused the kids but he would show them things he'd made (like bowls made from human skulls) and the kids would tell their parents about the creepy things he'd shown them and they would dismiss the stories.
Sometimes that creepy looking person IS.
