New York has nothing on Indiana when it comes to the very early 2012 presidential sweepstakes.
The Empire State has its two aspirantsformer Gov. George Pataki and famous rich guy Donald Trumpbut so does the Hoosier state: Gov. Mitch Daniels and U.S. Rep. Mike Pence, both of whom have made it to the national pundits coveted being mentioned list of Republican candidates for president.
It is not so unusual for a state to have more than one prospective candidate two years before the election. Only onceafter Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated, leaving Minnesotans Hubert Humphrey and Eugene McCarthy to battle out the 1968 Democratic nominationdid it go down to the wire, said Ray Scheele, co-director of the Bowen Center for Public Affairs at Ball State University.
What may be more remarkable about the possibility of these two Hoosiers becoming presidential candidates is that, through them, Indiana represents something of a microcosm of the national Republican Party and its philosophical wings.

When is the deadline for announcing a run for the presidency?
I live in Indiana.
Pence rocks!
There isn’t ‘one’. Each state is an independent entity, with regards to getting your name on the primary ballot.
Pissant, I am a hoosier (adopted for about 10+ yrs), and I can tell you that I would be ALL for Pence, but against Daniels (he is just like Romney-ok a litte bit more competant than that, espciecially on the state budget), but he’s no Ronald Reagan, anyone who meets or knows Pence knows that he has very much a Reaganesque persona.

Pataki? Hey, maybe Arlen Specter will switch parties again and throw his hat into the ring.
I like Pence. He’ll need to reject his amnesty lite plan before I’d support him fully though.
“I live in Indiana.

I used to live in IN.....I agree, Pence rocks !!!!!!
I had hope at first for Mitch Daniels because he steered IN clear of financial disaster, but it turns out he is 100% RINO, who will happy collect his steepens for serving the International Elites!
Pence YES, Daniels NO
Pence says whatever conservatives want to hear, but hasn't shown courage or leadership. He's not willing to take an unpopular stance or challenge the status quo.
He fought TARP going against all other GOP ‘leadership’. If I recall, only Duncan Hunter and DeMint and Pence gave any effort to kill that POS.

Pence needs to replace Daniels as Governor and become a genuine future Presidential contender. The opportunity will be there if he takes the correct route, and I hope he does. If he tries to do it as a local Congressmen, he'll ruin himself as an also-ran. I don't want a guy like Pence going down as an also-ran.
He could have a bright, BRIGHT future if he's willing to take step one and become Indiana's next Governor.
Ellsworth is the Defacto Democrat 2012 candidate for Gov.
His running for senate is just a gambit to up his name recognition, and it’s been known since he started.
Pence would be a GREAT candidate for Gov, but Becky Skillman will be Mitch’s hand-picked replacement.
He took a safe vote in the minority. As a House "leader", he wasn't able to accomplish anything other than padding his own voting record.
Rejecting the crap that other House leaders put up is a very big feather in his cap.
Do you think he'd be a better choice than Becky Skillman, and why?
VAT tax Mitch is done for.
