Well, thinking it over, I would add that I believe the conjectures that Rahm was fired from the White House, and that the Powers that Be in Chicago probably don’t want him as the next Mayor.

In which case, they might not be that unwilling to hang him out to dry.

And I’m not sure that Mayor Daley is all that fond of Obama, either, after having arranged to make big money on Olympic real estate and then having the Olympics committee pull the rug out from under him and his friends. If Obama is going down, why would Daley give him a hand at this point?

But isn’t Daley’s retirement a bit unusual. Was Daley pushed out so Rahm could run? Or would that be so Jesse Jackson, Jr could run in exchange for keeping his mouth shut in Obamagate.
