But while Sussman has long kept a behind-the-scenes profile, a recent ethics controversy in Maine has flung him into the center of a complicated dispute over state residency, tax dodging and congressional ethics – the implications of which extend all the way from the rocky coast of southern Maine to the offshore tax haven of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

I wonder if this is the same Wealthy Hedge Fund guy that Barney Frank took plane rides to the Bahamas from in 2008 or 09. The guy was also engaged to a Congresswoman at the time. I think they are now married.

“They’re friends. Are you not supposed to have friends if they’re wealthy?” Frank spokesman Harry Gural said of the Newton Democrat’s relationship with S. Donald Sussman.
The Herald reported yesterday that Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, flew to the Virgin Islands last Christmas on Sussman’s $25 million Dassault Falcon 2000EX luxury jet.

I was thinking the same thing. How come there is not mention of Barney’s involvement with this guy?

i used to live on STX, sold my property there in 2006, and i am here to tell you... the USVI is the closed thing to a banana republic under the US flag there is.
Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum just moved from PR to STX cause they got a better tax deal deal...
