Barney Frank: Tea Partiers have tied me to the railroad tracks!
Online Opinion Editor
10/12/10 10:15 PM EDT
This has to be one of the more colorful fundraising emails of the cycle, from Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass.:
Today, the Tea Party Express announced that not only has it made my one of their top targets in the entire nation, they are formally endorsing my opponent..
*snip*
The Tea Party Express also announced a that it will make a special stop in Massachusetts just before the election in order to defeat me.
The Tea Party Express thinks that it has me tied to the tracks. The right-wing is readying its engines. Fox News and talk radio are ready to call the play-by-play.

Hey, Barney, there’s a train coming down the tracks on November 2nd and you can’t stop this conservative locomotive.
Barney should be in prison.....then again, he’d probably enjoy being locked up in a building with a thousand other guys.

Massachusetts-4:
The Tea Party Express, the tea-party group that helped push Joe Miller and Christine O'Donnell to come-from-behind victories, are apparently targeting longtime Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank. According to Politico, it'll start airing radio ads against Frank and is asking supporters for money. Frank's seat is considered safe ... but that's what they said about Lisa Murkowski and Mike Castle, too, at one point. This year, you really never know. For what it's worth, Frank's opponent, Sean Bielat, released an internal poll in late September showing him within ten points of Frank.
And from the Wall Street Journal:
CROSS COUNTRY
The Marine Who Has Barney Frank Worried
In a district where Scott Brown won, Sean Bielat mounts a serious challenge.
By JAMES TARANTO
Fall River, Mass.
'I don't consider myself a tea party candidate," Sean Bielat tells me over dinner. "I don't know what it means." But an hour later Mr. Bielat, Rep. Barney Frank's Republican challenger, receives a hero's welcome at the Spindle City Tea Party, a gathering of nearly 200 citizen- activists in this economically depressed mill town. As he approaches the stage, they stand, applauding and chanting "Go, Sean, go!"
What he tells them is consistent with this reporter's view of the tea party: "I'm starting to think that people want to take this country backthat people no longer believe that the government has the answers for our betterment, that the government can tell them how they should use their money. People believe that they have the power to create their own opportunity, if only they are given the chance. . . . There is so much wrong in Washington, I almost don't know where to start."

The Daily Caller:
By Jonathan Strong - The Daily Caller | Published: 12:17 AM 10/13/201
With the respected, nonpartisan Cook Political Report shifting Barney Franks Massachusetts district from solid Democratic to likely Democratic and what appears to be the increasing momentum of his Republican challenger Sean Bielat, the National Republican Congressional Committee may be putting its money into the race.
The Party committees spending would be a major boon to the young former Marine challenging the notoriously cantankerous Frank, and is the latest sign of just how wide the playing field is in the 2010 midterm elections.
Bielat had lunch with House Republican Whip Eric Cantor Tuesday, and a spokeswoman for Bielat said we expect some resources from the NRCC going into the home stretch.
NRCC spokesman Tory Mazzola said the NRCC is keeping an eye on the race because over the last few weeks its become very competitive.
Privately, a Republican operative said Cantors lunch with Bielat was illustrative. That would certainly be an indication this is winnable, the source said. A major Tea Party group has also vowed to pour money into the race.
Franks office did not return a call for comment.
Meanwhile, Frank, who has donned a nice guy demeanor recently after apparently realizing he might lose the seat hes held for thirty years, debated Bielat on a local Fox affiliate late Tuesday.
Moderator Maria Stephanos sought to prevent interruption an obsession of Franks in debates from becoming an issue by setting clear terms and authoritatively steering the discussion.
I ask that you respect each other when answering questions. Please do not talk over one another. I do, of course, encourage a spirited debate, Stephanos said.
Even with the caution, Frank could not help but object several times to perceived slights.
One on occasion, he held a rather snippy back and forth with Stephanos herself.
After the moderator interjected to clarify her question, Frank sarcastically said, Im sorry but I was trying to answer you. Am I not supposed to?
On another occasion he impatiently asked, May I explain this, please?
Bielat took another jab at Frank on the issue, telling Frank I wish you wouldnt interrupt me with a broad grin on his face.
Besides being interrupted, Frank faces other difficulties in the campaign.
Barnie Frank, always the drama queen!

The Boston Herald, Frank takes a vaction that cost us $200 Million:
Rival blasts Barney Franks swanky free jet ride
By Dave Wedge Wednesday, October 13, 2010 -
Updated 7 minutes ago
U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, immersed in one of the toughest political fights of his career, took a free private jet to the Virgin Islands courtesy of a Maine congresswomans billionaire fiancée whose company received a $200 million federal bailout, the Herald has learned.
Frank, whos facing feisty Republican challenger Sean Bielat, flew to the tropical paradise for a vacation in 2009 on a $25 million jet owned by Paloma Partners honcho S. Donald Sussman, the fiancée of U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine). Paloma Securities a subsidiary of Sussmans Greenwich, Conn.-based hedge fund received $200 million in 2009 as part of the $180 billion federal bailout of troubled insurance giant AIG, records show.

The Coasters - "Along Came Jones"
I plopped down in my easy chair and turned on Channel 2
A bad gunslinger called Salty Sam was chasin' poor Sweet Sue
He trapped her in the old sawmill and said with an evil laugh,
"If you don't give me the deed to your ranch I'll saw you all in half!"
And then he grabbed her (and then)
He tied her up (and then)
He turned on the bandsaw (and then, and then...!)
[Chorus:]
And then along came Jones
Tall thin Jones
Slow-walkin' Jones
Slow-talkin' Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones
Commercial came on, so I got up to get myself a snack
You should've seen what was goin' on by the time that I got back
Down in the old abandoned mine, Sweet Sue was havin' fits
That villain said, "Give me the deed to your ranch Or I'll blow you all to bits!"
And then he grabbed her (and then)
He tied her up (and then)
He lit the fuse to the dynamite (and then, and then...!)
[Chorus]
I got so bugged I turned it off and turned on another show
But there was the same old shoot-'em-up and the same old rodeo
Salty Sam was tryin' to stuff Sweet Sue in a burlap sack
He said, "If you don't give me the deed to your ranch I'm gonna throw you on the railroad tracks!"
And then he grabbed her (and then)
He tied her up (and then)
He threw her on the railroad tracks (and then)
A train started comin' (and then, and then...!)
[Chorus]

Tea Party Express targets Frank
By ALEX ISENSTADT | 10/12/10 3:57 PM EDT Updated: 10/12/10 4:29 PM EDT
After successfully targeting Republican establishment candidates in two Senate primaries, the Tea Party Express is taking aim at a new high-profile figure conservatives love to hate: Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank.
The Tea Party Express will launch a radio ad campaign directed at the House Financial Services Committee chairman. The group sent an e-mail appeal to its supporters on Monday afternoon asking for donations to help power its campaign against Frank.
Hes one of the worst offenders, said Amy Kremer, chairwoman of the Sacramento, Calif.-based Tea Party Express. Its something weve heard from our people over and over again.
Were trying to put a stop in that district, said Kremer.
