Have a busy day at work and will rely on FReepers for running commentary on what is happening

Amen. Faith is what will carry these miners forward “in the real world.”

it has been very uplifting to watch this all

I am so very impressed with the way the Chilean authorities/powers that be have handled the rescue & the way they have provided the broadcasting opportunities so the world can watch

Understand over a billion people have been watching the various Internet feeds and that doesn’t include network & cable/dish coverage

Can we swap presidents?

Anybody else notice that these miners have some fairly hot looking esposas?

I’m in the wrong business!

Sad to think though, that truthfully, they were probably safer down there than they are up here.

I was watching Fox but had to switch when I noticed they were two hours behind. What are they doing?

The sun is up.
Miner number ten just got to the surface.

No major or even minor glitches yet.

OK, it’s a 2100 ft long MRI with two ends. Ask to to let you out and you are, at worst, 1100 feet from an opening.

What was nully’s war?

It was Nully's war thread (about the Iraq war, starting in March 2003). We started about the time the first B1B dropped the first bombs, and didn't quit until something like last week. It was a fun thing, good thing by our gov and pres and military, and lots of us made good friends there.

Nully ("Null and Void") stayed up lots of nights, maybe more than anyone...

Null and Void .. Nully

was one of the “hosts” of the war threads when the Iraq war commenced in 2003. There were daily threads of thousands of posts ..

lots of tension, relief, prayers, joy & lots of silly things during lulls..

... remember some of them? LOL

Chile is the richest country in SA......do not think they are in much danger in Chile.

Not sure what you mean by your comments.

We all were waiting for shock & awe..

... but got more strangled cats than bombs.

The Baghdad audio/video feed, y'all, seemed to be right next to the "call to prayer" speakers, so the daily calls to prayer sounded a lot like air raid alerts, but they lasted longer.

Some of the fireworks were cool, though, and we got to watch Achmed build a little house on the roof, etc., etc. ...

*** Can we swap presidents? ***

From what little I know about Chile, they have their own ‘socialist’ problems they have been fighting. A ~TeaParty’ish fight, except in spanish. ;)

I know the US played a big role in this rescue and I do have pride in my own nation. BUT... I think Chile can ‘own’ this one in the eyes of the world and more importantly among themselves. The National Pride has been earned (and needed) today.

The recently elected President went from 50% to 70% approval during this event.

Caveat: I may be complete off about the Chilean political scene. It’s my impression they are trying to move away from the Venezuela model.
