Lawmaker: Severed head of investigator in Hartley case delivered to Mexican military

The severed head of a Mexican investigator involved in the Falcon Reservoir case was delivered to the Mexican army today, according to state Rep. Aaron Peña, D-Edinburg.

Peña reported via Twitter that he had confirmed the information with Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez, whose office is heading the U.S. investigation into the Sept. 30 disappearance of David Michael Hartley.

The 30-year-old McAllen man is widely believed dead after what his wife, Tiffany Young-Hartley, has described as an attack by cartel "pirates" on the Mexican side of the binational waterway.

And shouldnt we have a Coast Guard vessel in those waters? We are under invasion after all. I can attest to that where I live.

Or the political pressure from the “wife didn’t do it crowd” made him stick his nose where the cartel did not think it belonged?

Do you really believe they're that stupid? All this does is direct more attention to them. If they weren't involved, they could have likely shown it (especially to someone on their payroll) without going to this extreme.

Our family has vacationed in Mexico many times in the past.
The kids have been begging to go back again.
But there are too many stories of this kind of extreme, random violence.

Anybody have a recommendation for a reasonably priced vacation spot in this hemisphere?
Hopefully with a crime rate less than that of Iraq.

Time for the nuclear option, I think.

Oh no. We can absorb a few beheadings.

For a great vacation try the Four Corners area in the West. Visit Moab, Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly, Window Rock, and though it is about to be closed for the year, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The sights are indescribable, the locals convivial, and no severed heads to my knowledge.

Unless him looking for a corpse put him in a place that bothered one of the cartels. They have shown they aren’t scared of either the gub’mit or the military.

I still don’t know how much I believe this woman. I guess I hope it’s true because I hate to see this kind of crime against a spouse but does seem hinky.

****Ms Hartley sure is going to some great lengths to get that insurance money. /s****

Eating crow here.

Her story did seem implausible to many of us. Because we had no such life experiences or an understanding of the barbaric lawlessness in the border areas.

Hartley worked for an oil company in Mexico and the couple lived within 70 miles of the lake - how were they so uninformed.

Obviously, the Hartleys and most of America (including POTUS & SOS) have no idea that we are at war with Mexican drug cartels. I have to believe President Bush would be more pro-active than the current WH.

We're under invasion up here in NJ; I can't even image how bad the borders states must be.

If Obama were a SMART MAN, this would be an opportunity to show some stones, by sending a ready U.S. Army regiment in to the area to clean it out, then turning it back over to the Mexican Government.

Agreed.
pResident Obama could turn this into a political bonanza.
Finally show some Presidential 'timber' - and shutdown the borders and take aggressive action against these terrorists that are harbored just across our border (and actually, some harboring within our borders)...

Just don't see it happening though. Our fearless leader will just offer to buy the world a coke - and have a group hug ... That is, after he apologizes for the something bad the United States did before his time. He always has to get the 'bad America' apology in first.

Organized crime is responsible.

Organized crime’s tentacles stretch into government and elsewhere.

Organized crime finds ways to make money without being legit. Even when an industry they are in (like music in America”), they use illegal tactics to “get ahead” and make that money.

They are crooks because they WANT to be crooks.

Legalizing the drugs won’t make them go away. Even if you legalize ALL drugs.

Hinky?

Jet skiing on a portion of the Rio Grande that’s a recreation area is hinky? The only thing “hinky” about this is assuming this is just another one of those “spouse is always guilty” stories because we’ve seen so many of them. Or our own thinking tends to be “hinky”.

I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt until something concrete comes up that shows a definite reason to suspect her. Unless “hinky” is the new standard for evidence. Of course with today’s Justice Department...

Mexican police and the army are going to need to see some serious raisse or they’ll start going aowl in droves. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Mexico is a greater threat to this country than China will ever be.

We need to fully militarize the border because once that country falls apart violence will spillover into the United States and we’ll see an ocean of refugees. If we have to close bases in Europe to do it so be it. If we don’t there will be thousands of American deaths.

Because we had no such life experiences or an understanding of the barbaric lawlessness in the border areas.

This'll be the norm throughout the country one day soon unless the law is re-imposed.

IMO American elections aren't about who can get the potholes fixed anymore. They're about survival.

It will take a situation where someone “important” ends up dead before any of the dc types do something effective about the border. Us folks in flyover country are apparently expendable to them.
