Our family has vacationed in Mexico many times in the past.
The kids have been begging to go back again.
But there are too many stories of this kind of extreme, random violence.

Anybody have a recommendation for a reasonably priced vacation spot in this hemisphere?
Hopefully with a crime rate less than that of Iraq.

For a great vacation try the Four Corners area in the West. Visit Moab, Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly, Window Rock, and though it is about to be closed for the year, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The sights are indescribable, the locals convivial, and no severed heads to my knowledge.

My daughter went to Costa Rica earlier this year and had a wonderful time. I don’t know if it would fit your family, but she really enjoyed it.

When you can’t tell the difference between the criminals and the cops—that is one country that you want to avoid.

Costa Rica if you want to leave the country. Lots of places within the US. And you don’t have the language problem here (not to mention the beheadings)!
