Favre apologizes to teammates, vows to play "lights out tonight"

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has yet to say much about the controversy that currently is making his 20th NFL season one to forget. But he has apologized to his teammates for the distraction, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

Per Mort, Favre also said that he plans to play "lights out tonight."

History says that he could. Peter King of SI.com points out in his Monday Morning Quarterback column that Favre has indeed played "lights out" when facing extreme personal situations.

Nearly seven years ago, Favre had the game of his life the day after his father suddenly died. Last year, Favre was constantly booed at Lambeau Field but nevertheless picked apart the Packers.

" I don’t believe he did — and if he did, I would wager it as in response to an RSVP"

which makes if ?right?....

he'd have denied this if it wasn't true....

I recall a lot of speculation about his wanderings back when he played for Green Bay..

Can’t wait ‘til Frank Caliendo dusts off his John Madden impersonation to address this situation.

Nuts sometimes mean nuts.

See " deader than Kelsey’s nuts". There it means a brand of high quality lug nuts used on early Fords.

In poker, the "nut hand" is the best possible hand given all the cards that are visible on the table. Supposedly that comes from an era when a farmer or tradesman playing poker would put the axle nuts of his wagon wheel on the table as a guarantee that either he would not run and flee in his wagon if he lost, or that he was betting the wagon on the hand.

All those years playing in the frozen tundra can cause this?

I just saw cheesecake photos of this gal on the NY Post web site. What exactly does she do for the NY Jets if she is employed by them?

Peter King of SI.com points out...

And anything after that is pure bunk.

Yes, he was asked. He didn’t deny it, just deflected the question.

I have a low opinion of Farve. It would be hard for him to do something to make it any lower.

Not all that surprised at some of the responses in this thread but whether she contacted management or not that action he took is sexual harassment. If he did it once, chances are he did it more then once. Somewhere down the line you’ll find someone who didn’t want to be treated that way and didn’t speak out because he’s “BRETT FARVE”. He deserves suspension but I doubt they have the guts to do it.

So was that what General McAuliffe had in mind at the Battle of the Bulge?

Yep. He was letting the Germans know that the wheels were about to come off their war machine and the advance into the Bulge. America was about to strip the Germans of their nuts.

Yup,

Favre`s a Democrat so it comes as no surprise.

If he thinks “lights out” he may be right in the wrong way. That Jet defense will be frothing at the mouth to sack him.

It won`t be called a Sack, they`re gonna call it a ‘Hoffa’ after they plant him in the ground.

I can’t stand the guy, because I think he is an attention whore.

Plus, not that I have an issue with guys crying, but for God’s sake, this guy blubbers every time he gets in front of a camera. I heard he sobbed in front of his teammates today.

It is embarrassing. He should have retired and never come back the first time, and I would have thought a lot higher of him.

I have an issue with men crying in public. It’s not very classy and it’s unmanly.

I would rather support a 19 year old that humps a M-16 in a war zone and does his crying in private.

I have zero respect for Farve.

Farve is getting old and in denial about it. That denial could cause him a fatal injury.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t have an issue with a guy shedding tears, especially not any guy who has to experience combat, or even someone who has experienced trauma or a death.

And I don’t have an issue with a guy who gets misty eyed or choked up when he has to retire or whatever. I recently had to deliver a eulogy for a dear friend, and I had to stop and gather myself a few times.

I DO have an issue with someone who blubbers over retiring from sports or because he got caught sending pictures of his private parts to women. That is definitely not classy or manly. Ughh.

Jets look scary. Best Defense and now the Offense is beginning to score alot.
Sanchez looks less nervous in the pocket and seems to be able to see the whole field before deciding where to throw.

As of right now only, I`d guess a Giants/Jets Superbowl.

I don't want to jinx the kid, but it seems to me that it took Peyton Manning longer in his youthful career to get to the point that Mark Sanchez is currently playing at now. Sanchez looks like he's capable of making good fast decisions as soon as he gets the ball. There are a lot of well known veteran QBs who still haven't polished that ability.

Next week will be a very interesting game for the Jets.
