Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took the stage at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island just after 8 p.m. Saturday to address a large crowd of supporters and journalists who’d gathered in a ballroom to hear her introduce a senatorial candidate.

The former GOP Vice Presidential nominee and Tea Party Movement favorite was expected to introduce her fellow Alaskan, Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller, at a political fundraiser promoting former combat veterans running for U.S. Congress next month.

Palin, standing in front of a row of American flags on stage, took shots at what she called the "lamestream media," saying, that when the media "just doesn't get it and when they don't believe what perhaps your message is so they want to belittle you and mock you and treat you with much disdain, you know, I think, well they can do that to me, that's fine, because I know truth."

She went on, "You know what, you can say whatever you want to say about me but I raised a combat vet and you can't take that away from me."

The event was organized by the political action committee Combat Veterans for Congress. Tickets cost $300 and up per person, and about 500 people were expected to attend the event, titled "Patriotic Gala." Among the local congressional candidates attending were Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Alpine, and Republican congressional candidates Nick Popaditch, who is running in the 51st District, and Michael Crimmins, who is running in the 53rd district.

She merits top security.

That is my biggest worry and fear about her and her family. I hope to God they have security second to none with the deranged trash we see every day in this country.

Bakersfield *is* wonderful. I am sorry to say that San Diego has grown too much and it’s not the same nice city of my childhood.

Biden was lucky that he was once in the same room with Governor Palin.

Dunno. That’s an old photo.
The one the U-T used was a file photo as well.

The only time Biden is the smartest guy in the room is when he’s in the bathroom, and that’s only until the shower gets turned on.

I bet there are a few in the media that she’d like to give a knuckle-sandwich to. But she’s a lady and will simply out-class them at every opportunity. Her spunk and fight are truly unique to her alone and will serve her well in any leadership endeavour.

The left already knows this and are afraid, which explains the media attacks on her personally. Would that there were real men in the media to stand-up to these jackals and turn the vitriol down a few notches. This can change over time as people ‘suscribe’ to sources less bent on denying this country’s exceptionalism. And when men of character enter the field a clear choice will present itself and render the rest to the dustbin of journalism.

I’d like to be on your ping list, onyx. High volume or not.

But in all seriousness, those kind of hypocrites, they would be too damn cowardly to say that kind of crap to her face, so they post it online, because they are cowards.

Well, thankfully, NOT ALL of San Diego. I mean we have three great conservative Congressmen: Darrell Issa, Brian Bilbray and Duncan Hunter Jr, and hopefully we’ll add GunnyPop in November. But there’s a lot of illegal aliens and libtards from other states. The good military people keep the area conservative, and thank God for them.
