Can Sean Bielat Beat Barney Frank?
The Weekly Standard ^ | Oct 9, 2010 | BY Daniel Halper

Posted on 10/09/2010 6:20:55 PM PDT by Dayvester

James Taranto profiles Sean Bielat, the congressional candidate in Massachusetts who is seeking to defeat Barney Frank in November's election:

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Mr. Bielat caught the "political bug" as a teenager, when he did a stint as a House page. After earning a master's in public policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, he went to work as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. and an executive for iRobot Corp., a defense contractor based in Bedford, Mass. He's also a new father; his wife gave birth to their son, Theodore, over the summer...

Can he win? In a district that gave 63% of its vote to Barack Obama, Mr. Frank has to be reckoned the heavy favorite. But Mr. Bielat's quest does not look quite as quixotic as it did last October, when he quit his job at iRobot to pursue it....

I saw a Barney Frank ad on TV today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before — he’s always been a shoo-in; but not this year.

What’s wrong with the people of Mass? Don’t they realize that Frank was instrumental with the sub-prime mortgage crisis and economy collapse? Are they uninformed or just plain screwed up in the mind?

Thanks Dayvester.
He's also a new father; his wife gave birth to their son, Theodore, over the summer
By contrast, his opponent sympathizes with NAMBLA.

This would be a great victory.

If Frank is ever going to be defeated by a Republican for his seat, this would be the year and the candidate to do it. Bielat is the real deal, and there may never be a better political environment for a Republican victory in Massachusetts than this year.

I don't get it either. He and Dodd are two of the primary culprits with the mentioned crises and are in bed with Fannie and Freddie Mac. I just don't get it. Hey Mass, show us otherwise!

Didn’t Scott Brown carry this district?

“I saw a Barney Frank ad on TV today.”

Schumer has been running ads showing what great guy he is. Scared are they?

I don't recall statistics for senate elections broken down by congressional districts. The districts in Massachusetts are heavily gerrymandered. Barney's includes areas west, southwest, southeast of Boston as well as some of the Cape. Brookline and Newton are two of the larger areas of the district inhabited by moonbats. It's an uphill battle for Sean. He'll likely do better than Sholly in the last election where Sholly got about 34 percent of the vote.

Kennedy.

Kerry.

Frank.....I realize your question is rhetorical, but I would venture to say that voting is not something that is given serious intellectual consideration in Mass.

This young man has a very impressive resume.

I hope to God Sean beats the corrupt Barney Frank like a drum.

If not, Sean should run for the Senate when Kerry is up for re-election.

I thought Barney was deciding not to run for re-election this year? Was going to go into the private sector? This was about 6 months ago or so...I honestly thought he was done.

I’d love to see arrogant Barney Frank lose.

But I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Anything is possible though.

Good questions. You know what? People that are inclined to think that liberalism and government are superior philosophies, or even at par with the Divine (the saviors of humanity), will see what they wanna see.

And I don’t think most of ‘em have studied/retained economics.
