Prominent American Jewish leaders cast doubt on President Obama's policy in the Middle East in a long article posted today on Huffington Post by the writer Ed Klein.
The most striking material is from the Anti-Defamation League's Abe Foxman:
[A] clue to the president's true intentions came in March 2009, when Abe Foxman, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, met with the president's then chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel.
"This is Israel's moment of truth," Emanuel told Foxman. "This president is determined to make peace between Israel and the Arabs."
Foxman spoke to Klein, a former New York Times Magazine editor and author of gossipy books about the Kennedys and Hillary Clinton, about a meeting that July between Jewish leaders and Obama:
"I came away from the meeting convinced that Obama has introduced a new and dangerous strategy and that it's revealing itself in steps," Foxman told me. "Unlike other administrations, this one is applying linkage in the Middle East. It's saying that if you resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the messiah will come and the lions will lie down with the lambs."
The piece is sharply negative, but the a Vanity Fair spokeswoman, Beth Kseniak, said it was killed for reasons of space, not content; Klein said he'd been told the same, and had no reason to doubt it.
Hillary is not pro Israel however. That f'kn Jew bastard that is attributed to Hillary is probably true.
Well, you're right, the Japanese might very well tell us that the best thing to do is to quit funding both sides (the Israelis and the Palestinians) and to let the parties settle their own dispute in the way that they think best. Maybe the Japanese would opine that they can't solve the problem for the Israelis and the Palestinians.
I've just become convinced that we can't solve all of the world's problems and this is one of the problems that experience has shown us that we can't solve.

I think you may be on to something...
Thackeray’s Vanity Fair was a great book. Can’t say the same for the magazine.
btt
Exactly my point. None of the leading Democrats are pro-Israel. You have to look to the Republican Party for Israel supporters. Thanks for putting that Hillary quote in there. I remembered vaguely that she had made an anti-Semitic remark, but couldn't recall exactly what it was. And yet she was elected to the Senate in New York. That wouldn't be possible without Jewish support.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Vanity Fair always has room for anti-Conservative pieces.
Do you know what self-restraint is?
You may be Jewish but you come off like a self hating moron. Go run that crap by your rabbi and see him smack you in the face
Me-— Jewish and unimpressed by your psycho-babbling
“The Jews funded and placed the guy.”
Oh, grow up.
If every Jewish voter voted for McCain, Obama would still be president. We are 1.7% of the population.
You need to stop blaming Jewish people for your problems -— oh wait, that would require self-evaluation for your people’s shortcomings.
Much easier to just blame the JOoooooooooos.
He is no more Jewish than I am Roman Catholic.
You are right he probably isn’t even Jewish. Just another idiot.
Our numbers don’t make a difference but our influence and money do.
The reason US Jews continue to support those that hate us is because of folks like you.
Was your Dad Haganah?
Mine was.
Look it up so you’ll know what it means.
“The reason US Jews continue to support those that hate us is because of folks like you.”
Pffft.
“Was your Dad Haganah?”
My grandfather was Etzel, actually. If you were actually Jewish Zionist, you would know the Haganah were pussies.
