I've just returned from a fascinating and wide-ranging interview with former US Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton. On the subject of electoral politics and personal ambition, Bolton has been playing a bit coy with the media in recent weeks, refusing to rule out a potential presidential bid in 2012.
This morning he waded further into the subject, telling me he's "very seriously" contemplating a White House run in 2012 and that he's begun consulting with high-level campaign operatives to discuss feasibility and logistics. Bolton cited what he described as President Obama's failures, the "wide open" Republican field, and the knowledge and experience he could bring to the table as the primary factors that sparked his interest in running. He also repeatedly stressed that an official decision is not imminent because his top focus remains working to help Republicans succeed in next month's midterm elections.
Does he think he can win? Could his rift with President Bush complicate his chances? How does he size up his potential Republican adversaries? Would he shave the 'stache?

I know what you mean and I think I agree with you. But I suspect war is coming. I think its coming like it or not.

But if we can work on making America a defensive citadel and that our citizens actually matter, I would go far. I love the idea of manning up to make out country safe.
That one's easy. No comprehensive anything. Secure the border; enforce the law; let the chips fall, and the problem will resolve itself.
Politicians are always looking for a way to elide the problem, to avoid delivering the hard news when the cameras are rolling. I want someone with the nerve to say, the law is the law. We will enforce the law. Period. You can never out-pander the Dems, its better not to try.
I want someone who will take back China's MFN status and bring manufacturing and jobs back to America. I'm sick of the US gov kissing China's a**. China means war and all the a** kissing in the world won't stop it. Chinese goods are rotten and supporting one of the most evil governments in the world chaps my hide. Globalists love China. Globalists are enemeies of all that is good and decent about America. You know how many former US mil - high ranking ones like generals - work for Chinese interests? How many politicians and others have Chinese money in their pockets?
Many, many do. They are traitors. China means harm to everyone in their way of hegemony.

No matter who’s the GOP nominee, Bolton needs to be a major contributor in the next administration. I suspect Sarah would name him as Secretary of State and he’d be great in that position.

Bolton for POTUS? Intriguing idea! I’m not sure if he’s truly electable, but ... maybe. If he could get a consultant to tweak his image so he looked more folksy-friendly, that would help. The ‘stache needs some help.

You’re ignoring the fact that China has an evil government that is doing incredible harm all over the world with the money it gets from the US in the form of crap goods that we have no choice but to buy, since globalist companies have moved their manufacturing to China to take advantage of cheap labor and no envirnomental laws.
Now the US has lost its manufacturing base, jobs are hemmhoraging, and all we can buy in stores is crap from China. Toxic, ill made crap.
To make your analogy more accurate, the gun dealer is also a pimp, a member of a drug cartel, and the guns he sells are cheapy crap ones that explode in your hand or misfire. And there is no other gun dealer because he undersold all the others or threatened them to shut down.
I disagree. I am not going to punish China. However I certainly would make it more attractive to do business in the US for US customers. I would also stop corportations from having the full legal advantages of a citizen.
Using your analogy, I am not sure that both sides dont have blood on their hands. My interst is to wash our blood off and start down a different path. The Chinese have their own leadership and country to deal with. Not my problem, not our problem.

The trading relationship with the US and China sucks, it enriches China and businesses who deal with China. Impoverishes those Americans who lost jobs to Chinese workers (not a small number), and now the US public has no choice but to buy total crap. It’s like paying for the bullet that kills you.
