"A VW Jetta diesel already gets about 30/40 mpg,"
1999? to 2005 TDI Jettas are easily capable of achieving 50 mpg on a regular basis.

Too long of a mile makes it difficult to improve mpg.

Why stop at 62, why not make it 100?Why not a 200 mpg car and a golden skittle producing unicorn in every garage.

If a car is going to get anywhere near 60 mpg 1) It will have to be made of plastic 2) Top speed cannot be over 40 3) Single seater 4) No room for any baggage Start hording ANY big cars....they will be worth a fortune!

We’ll all turn into auto mechanics to service the cars we need to fit our lives, much like Cuba.
In fact, a lot of what this administration has done has made us look like Cuba.

Better be prepared to get motorcycle licenses then.
I’ve got one.
Betcha the Loon in Chief couldn’t get one since he appears to have the coordination of ....er...OK, Ok, the idiot has no coordination whatsoever. Just watch the loon pitch sometimes.

yah...they’re gonna start peddling those gadgets that used to haunt the ads in the back of Popular Mechanics...the magic plate in the intake that lets you run on 50% water...
The Gubment can call for whatever they want, but when we get to 2025 the leading vehicle in sales in America will still be the latest model F-150 4WD pickup truck.
Made and assembled completely Union-Free in Alabama.

When “offended” by the owner of a BRAND NEW ‘Hi-mileage’ little car over my wasting of resources and $$$$$ with my 1992 Olds station wagon, I bet him $10.00 my per-mile cash outlay was much, much less than his.
We BOTH listed monthly car payments (me-none), car insurance (mine 25% of his), depreciation (mine $1.25 per month), excise taxes (mine at $42.50), repairs ( I put $1035 into car 9 months ago), gas usage (mine more of course).
When dividing 10,000 miles into out TOTAL cash OUTLAYS, my per-mile outlay was embarassingly lower than his.
We were at my marina, and I’d heard him wishing he could afford a boat, but no way could he think of it.
The final blow came when I pointed out my “all paid for” sailboat at its slip.

This is about legislating cars out of existence. It has nothing to do with economy, it is about population control.
