Gov. Chris Christie today called the suicide of Rutgers freshman Tyler Clementi an unspeakable tragedy, but said he would let Attorney General Paula Dow figure out how to prosecute the case against two fellow students accused of recording him in a sexual encounter.
Well, first of all, as the father of a 17-year-old, I cant imagine what those parents are feeling today I cant, said Christie.
You send your son to school to get an education with great hopes and aspirations.
Christie said his feeling on the case as a father overwhelms whatever feelings I have as governor and that he didnt know how Ravi and Wei could sleep at night knowing that they contributed to driving that young man to that alternative.
The two have been charged with multiple counts of invasion of privacy.

In one sense the culprits had no way of knowing what the victim’s response, the victims actions, would be. On the hand, morally, can it be denied that they did seek to harm the victim. Our prayers to his family.
Read roses of sharon’s comment; he was already posting tape of himself performing sex acts on a “gay” porn site. So he already had exposed himself as a homosexual.

Ok....the suicide victim is the actual one performing for a homosexual website...he is giving his own show to them, and their comments to him are right there too.
It is he who is sitting in front of his computer...performing sex acts to the camera, then typing responses to his viewers.
Btw, his viewers are now writing in RIPs to his site.
Does that clear it up?

Please read the comment I just posted and check the link.
The young man had already been filming himself doing sex acts and posting on a “gay” porn site.
So he was not “outed” by the creeps, he’d done it himself already. There’s more to this story on the linked thread. Apparently his sex partner was an older male.
PLease read the comment I just posted; there is more info on the linked thread.
The problem is the co-eds and many young people are part and parcel of what you call his mental illness. Many young people today have absolutely no problem with homosexuality, bi-sexuality etc... they were playing a game of gotcha with him. It very well may be more to this story than it seems to appear. It may have to do with his love relationship.
yes but it was HIS business what he was doing and not that of others to secretly film him and then post it for all to see. What would be the point.
What the two creeps who filmed him secretly did was entirely wrong. Disgusting.
But homosexual acts are also wrong and disgusting, and he was already filming himself and putting it on a homosexual porn site. More wrong and disgusting.
That doesn’t nullify the wrong the other people did; but what they did certainly doesn’t nullify the wrong the young man did.
There are no good actors in this story.
Another point is that when did dormitories become free for all sex parlors? That is also wrong and disgusting.
It's a classic college prank, in which the perps, while knowingly doing wrong, had no idea what the consequence would be.
It was a calculated business decision. I dare you to ... imed to 150 people.
150 followers on Twitter does not a business make.
Family attorneys should subpoena all records of his iChat account, and those of every follower he had, and the story will take on a different character, imho.
So they should. And defense attorneys should google for cit2mo. LOL! Let the jury have the last laugh!
Governor Christie needs to shut his pie hole and get back to work hammering down the public sector.
>> .i would have never killed myself if filmed banging a chick
No doubt better than bangin’ a hen.
wow...what empathy, what sympathy..
You obviously have no capacity to understand that it wasn’t just ‘consensual sexual activity’...which would be enough for most young college kids to be emabarrassed about on the internet...this young man was gay, and was “outed” when not even his parents knew.
Sane and rational people often in extreme cases respond dramatically.
“dopey pranksters”???
You have got to be kidding..these are two viscious, sadistic people to deliberately plan and do this.
maybe they can graduate to doing snuff films for fun ..
> You have got to be kidding..these are two viscious,

I’ll agree that they were malicious.
But I don’t think they intended for the guy to kill himself.
At worst, they were thinking of blackmailing him.
The trial, which is necessary, will expose more.
I agree with you. The youth today are being socialized in a destructive and bizarre way! I agree that it probably was just a gottcha prank lacking in compassion and empathy and that these co-eds would do this to anyone.
However, this kid who killed himself grew up in that culture. He had serious mental problems leading into this incident which is why he made the decision to off himself.
BS. Absolute and total BS.
Sorry, but this kid did not remotely act rationally or sanely, if this “event” was the only thing related to his suicide... Which I honestly highly doubt.
It is a tragedy that this talented young man decided to take his own life. No doubt about it, but if the entire reason for him deciding to do so was simply because he got “outed”, then he was not acting sanely or rationally. I suspect there is far more to this story than will ever be told, because the narrative is just too good for certain people for it to ever be anything but a simple cause and effect story that the press and others are selling.
But facts don’t matter, because, the story being told as is, tells a narrative that is beneficial for certain political groups. It can tug at folks emotions without any regard to reason or rationality... As it is story upon story tying this young mans suicide with gay teen troubles in the broader sense, when, at least to date, nothing has come out saying this young man decided to kill himself purely and simply over this incident. However, like I said, facts don’t matter.
Agreed. You lasered in on a good point.
I hope the good guv doesn't begin to be affected by his public adulation in succumbing to the sometimes uncontrollable urge to comment on every single thing that's of notoriety in his state....especially when comments are thrown out before all facts are known.
That's when politicians get into trouble.

This is not about someone’s personal choice and whether or not it is right or wrong. That is another issue and has nothing to do with what happened.
This is about two people invading someone else’s privacy by hiding cameras to film whatever was going on and planning to broadcast it for everyone to see on You Tube??? Unacceptable!!!
Good, bad or indifferent...they had no right to do this.
see post 52
folks jumped real quick here with little grasp
now this poor kid will become a “hate crime” poster child
had it been a straight girl or boy the media would just say pity and move on
now it’s a political issue
the redress over anything minority is a cancer in our country...stage 4
>Manslaughter is homicide without malice aforethought. <
Yes it is. But it is common knowledge that while painful and horrible, suicide is not the fault of anyone but the individual. Suicide is defined as “the action of killing oneself intentionally”.
Obviously, what the two students did to this young man is horrendous and inexcusable. They need to pay for their unimaginable cruelty. I just don’t see how you can reasonably say this is manslaughter, since the individual had to make the ultimate decision, plus had to act independently to take his own life.
My heart goes out to Tyler, and especially to his parents. I just wish Tyler had been able to turn to someone for help instead of ending his life.
