This is a time when I thank GOD that I am in my 60s.
I am happy to have been a part of Col. Reb, and the old south.
Life for me 40 to 50 years ago were great times, without any PC crap.

Maybe, like the Mississippi student, they will say: "We just wanted it to be over."

The ultimate fallacy of any of the racial BS is that by each concession it will be over. It is a one way street that won't stop until whites make it stop. This isn't just about the "Confederacy'. Last time I looked the Red White & Blue is currently under attack as a symbol of hatred and oppression as is Columbus, our founding fathers, and most anything else associated with being white. Whites are not only fools but cowards if we allow for our heritage, culture and nation to be destroyed.

My son went into a convenience store the other day wearing a cap with a Tennessee state flag on the front of it, and the black clerk told him it was racist and to take it off or leave the store.

I think its the north that wants to keep fighting the Civil War. They aren't content with just winning. There was some politicians back then who were pissed at Lincoln because he wanted to just get the south back into the union quickly and painlessly but they wanted to absolutely crush the south and make them pay for their"rebellion". I think the north looks down on the south and is still pissed. Get rid of the southern heritage flag and it will be something else.

Its strange , too, how things seem to have switched. Back then the Republicans were the North and Democrats were the South. Now its the exact opposite. Liberal Democrats are in the North and conservative Republicans are in the south.

“Dixie” was written in New York City, and any claims to it by the southern rebels are rendered null and void by their ignominious defeat.

But 40 or 50 years ago, life was hell for decent well meaning folks who were not permitted to vote, to defend themselves, to attend proper schools, or to hold certain jobs for which they were otherwise qualified.

We are also glad you are in your 60s.

So what are you saying, then? If New York wants to go around singing “Dixie”, they are welcome to it. By the way, who wrote it and where was he/she from?

There are a lot of Republicans in other places too, for example I live in Maywood CA, a town that is 95% hispanic, but recently fired its police department and city workers.

You know how it is about Dixie. “Old times there are not forgotten” and all the rest.

This article, and the history lessons it contains, should be read by every young person in the South.

My, you sure are nasty, aren’t you? You might as well quit beating around the bush. What have you got against the south? If its the war, let it go. That was 150 years ago. Were you there and did some mean old Confederate hurt your feelings?

Well, I know there are conservatives all over the country, just like there are liberals in the south. I was just speaking as a rule. Look at the political map. California is almost all red except the coast.

Daniel Decatur Emmet, was born in Ohio. According to Ripley, Dixie land was in Long Island New York.

Bryant’s Minstrels premiered “Dixie” in New York City on 4 April 1859.

Ahhh. There you are. A thread about the Old South just wouldn’t be the same without you.
