But 40 or 50 years ago, life was hell for decent well meaning folks who were not permitted to vote, to defend themselves, to attend proper schools, or to hold certain jobs for which they were otherwise qualified.

We are also glad you are in your 60s.

You know how it is about Dixie. “Old times there are not forgotten” and all the rest.

My, you sure are nasty, aren’t you? You might as well quit beating around the bush. What have you got against the south? If its the war, let it go. That was 150 years ago. Were you there and did some mean old Confederate hurt your feelings?

Blah blah blah. So what? And now today many places are unsafe for decent well meaning folks to go. Now today we have 90% blacks voting for Obama, the Black Panthers, the NAACP, the Black Caucus, AA, African American Studies, Eric Holder, 70% unwed mothers, the education gap, out of control crime, and racial animosity out the gazoo.

So you can pat yourself on the back and revel in the greatness of it all, You can celebrate in the wonderfulness of places like Zimbabwe, Haiti and Detroit.

Thank God that the bad old days are gone and we’re all marching into such a glorious future together.

After we solve the problems here, caused by my ancestors, we’ll be heading to Africa to solve their problems that have existed for all of recorded history...also caused by my ancestors.

I wish I could say it's amazing how many of the folks on this thread either cannot, will not, or pretend not, to understand your point.

Alas, I cannot say I'm amazed.

And things are so much better now, right. At least then, they were mostly growing up in intact families, not on drugs, and much less likely to die by violence.

We are also glad you are in your 60s.

Speak for yourself.
