The news media has been slow to report the emergency restraining order obtained Monday by former Alaska Governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin against 18 year old Pennsylvania man Shawn R. Christy. It took forty-eight hours for the national media to report on the court order, even though it was reported online by the local paper the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman on Tuesday.
Palin friend Kristan Cole also obtained a restraining order against Christy, who reportedly told Cole he had bought a gun and flown to Alaska in recent days.
This evening, the Associated Press quoted testimony Palin gave by telephone in the hearing Monday:
"Bottom line is, he is crazy and could kill me," Palin said, according to the court transcript. "He wants me dead."
Palin also testified that he also believes he has some kind of relationship with her daughter, Willow, and has brought up the girl's name.
The AP also quoted Palin's attorney Thomas Van Flein on the constant threats the Palin family has lived with since she came to national prominence two years ago:
Christy had "risen to the top of the dozens and dozens of people" who have threatened Palin since 2008, when she emerged on the national stage. "He stands out as the most persistent," trying to reach her through friends, associates and family members, he said.
Reuters also published their first article on the Palin stalker tonight, noting "Cole, like the former Republican vice presidential candidate, is from Wasilla and a former beauty pageant contestant."
The Frontiersman reported more details today:
Cole testified that Christy sent a letter in August 2010 saying that “he tried to follow the bible but had evil and wickedness in him.” She said Christy told her that he is convinced she is evil and must be punished.
“Petitioner is concerned because the respondent appears to be unstable and has stated that he believes petitioner is evil and that she needs to be punished and that he is coming to confront her to get her to tell the truth.”
Christy also claims to have had a sexual relationship with Gov. Palin, the documents say. “Petitioner testified that respondent has told her that he has had an affair with Gov. Palin and that petitioner needs to tell the FBI the truth about the affair.”
Palin testified that she has not had a sexual relationship with Christy, the filing stated.
AOL News reports on Christy's purported Facebook page that Christy was homeschooled and claimed to work for a Hazelton recycling company.
The constant stalking the Palin family lives under explains their visceral reaction to literary stalker Joe McGinnis moving into the home next door to the Palins last summer to work on a book about Sarah Palin.
The media's slow coverage of the threats to Palin are in keeping with their downplaying of the arson fire at her church in Wasilla after the 2008 presidential election.

Actually he reminds me more of Robert Bardo, the guy that killed actress Rebecca Shaffer..stalked her, believed she was in love with him, went right up to her door and put a bullet in her head. This guy is a carbon copy of him..a complete whack job that needs to be watched 24/7..his parents are just as insane as he is so they are not going to be any help here so its up to the authorities to watch him like a hawk.
crazy seems to follow the same pattern. Be it in bardo, Hinckley or this guy. Crazy/evil is always a stone throw away it seems.....
We haven't heard from Todd. I believe he is a strong man. He must be considering his family is being attacked - from all sides.
I pray for guardian angels protect that family, a hedge of protection around them and their family.

There are some 100% nuts people out there who can get fixated on you; I had to get an R.O. against one and it was not a fun experience. That person was mentally ill and had layered some pretty disturbing delusions over the dimension known as reality. He admitted having done a lot of LSD two decades prior, so that must have fried out the walls and doors of perception in his brain.
I would never crave even a hint of celebrity because this type of person would meet you on their TV, spend time listening to and getting to know more about you in the comfort of their own home for a few weeks/months/years, and then suddenly you find out you’re in a relationship with them - in THEIR mind.

The locals in Wasilla pack many times more firepower than any amount of Secret Service that may be stationed around Sarah, and the State Troopers have a lot of resources themselves, I watched them and the Alaska version of a SWAT team take over a neighborhood when there was a burglar caught and was armed near Big Lake (a community about 15 miles from the Palins) and they swooped in like Israeli Commandos.
There is practically no way to get out of Alaska stealthily unless its by a personal long range boat, a personal aircraft or on foot, the border only has a couple of points for entry and they have VERY sophisticated scanning devices, and at the major airports they have facial scanning hardware installed.
Its the end of tourist season and snow is about to fall in Wasilla, yes its cold now, no duh its Alaska and our summers are short and the winters long, the Valley kinda empties out during winter, and there isn’t a whole lot of motels here either, Alaska is actually the worst place for a fugitive to hide, new people stick out like a rhino in Antarctica.
Of course anything happening to Sarah, no matter what it is will only strengthen the resolve of the nation to back her even more so.
I live just down the road from Sarah Palin but I have mostly stopped posting that I live in Wasilla and will remain incognito for quite awhile for security reasons, with the exception of a post or two like this. I am not answering any messages about info of Wasilla or Sarah.
Take comfort now that the authorities, including the FBI are closely monitoring *this* particular threat, but keep praying for guardian angels to protect that family, a hedge of protection around them and their family, as you so perfectly stated.
The vile and vicious lamestream media, the 400+ journ0lists, along with the DNC and the democrats have been doing every dirty thing possible to try to prevent Sarah Palin from becoming the first woman president, so attempts and threats on her life, are fueled by the hatred incited by the cabal of the aforementioned.
Like Rush constantly says, Sarah Palin has done nothing to incite such hatred. She's genuinely good. She's an all American patriot. Disagree with her policies, her pro-life Christianity, but that's not a reason to hate her. She's not harmed anyone.

Hardly surprising, as the media are largely the reason for the whacky and extreme feelings, with their irresponsible coverage of Gov Palin inciting the hatred and encouraging the unhinged.

What I don’t understand is why this guy is still out loose. The last thing I heard ‘making terroristic threats’ against any person is a felony. This term definitely includes death threats.
