Metro Detroit is buzzing over Rob Wolchek's recent story about Chrysler workers caught boozing it up and smoking what apparently was pot during their lunch break and then heading back to the plant to finish their shift.
"I'm very, very disturbed about what we ¿ saw," said Chrysler Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Scott Garberding.
Now, Chrysler executives are taking action.
"For us, this behavior is totally unacceptable and will be dealt with swiftly," Garberding said.
People have been calling local radio stations all over metro Detroit and talking about this FOX 2 investigation. However, many of the callers questioned "our" motive for doing the story and airing the video. We've been getting e-mail after e-mail and hundreds of comments on myFOXDetroit.com.

Being an ex-Detroit native and a conservative , I pledge not to buy a car from any company that got bailed out by the Obamao Administration.
Ihope GM and Chrysler go under, the sooner the better.
FUAW
58,000 is why I will never buy another new car. I wonder how the Chicoms will handle the UAW. Oh well they built the railroads with Chinese coolies, Why not GM cars with American Coolies?
I have a 99 Jeep Wrangler that, for reasons unknown until now, always tries to slow down every time I pass a bar or fraternity house. I now know that behavior is in its DNA.

And people say that union workers don't do what they're told.
Small wonder why my next car will either be a Ford Fiesta SES hatchback or a Honda Fit Sport hatchback....
My father-in-law, Teamster/UAW union type, made an interesting observation regarding $50K vehicles. The average home is $100K mortgaged for 30 years yet we buy a car that is 1/2 the cost of our home that depreciates and we finance it for 5 or 7.
I enjoy that new car smell but would stop short of $50K for one.
And then I drive it until the wheels fall off...
Knew a guy whose entire family worked for Ford in Ohio for generations.
He told me that when he worked there in the 80’s the union provided pot, booze, cocaine, and hookers 24/7 in back-lot “break trailers”.
The company knew about it, but the union was so strong, there was nothing they could do.
bttt
The real story here is that this was covered by the local news outlet. There was a time, when the UAW and auto companies were so strong, that local media would never have produced a story like this.

And you start to wonder what the real “business” is that the Unions are operating!
Those cartels in Mexico may be Unionized. After all the MediPot Growers in California just went with the Union Label!
I expect my import will last another 5-6 years, putting it at the 9 or 10 year mark when I trade it in. Right now, 4+ years, 50K+ miles, not a squeak, rattle, nor any non-standard maintenance. (fluids replacement and tires only)
There is no-way I would even consider a Chrysler or GM vehicle due to their big-government affiliations. Last time I looked Ford had a couple of interesting vehicles in my market niche, but they're ugly and cost about 3K more than a comparable import with questionable quality, life expectancy, maintenance, and resale value.
Hey Detroit, how are those unions working out for you long term? Maybe looks pretty good right now, if you have no self-respect and enjoy government handouts... But when government stops protecting the unions, you companies are going to fail.
Too big to fail is just wrong. They should be allowed to fail. Any company's failure is an opportunity for their competition. Where would Ford be now if GM had been allowed to fail? Where would some of the GM divisions be? Separate spun-off companies, thriving like a growing medium sized businesses? We'll never know. What about all the well-run banks that could have gobbled up the failing banks had hussein not bailed them out? Could have been a disaster for some (banks or car companies that fail), but a boon to others that got to sweep in and take over. Could have been a boom, not a government bust.
And now, the largest group of union workers are the SEIU government workers. Do you ever wonder exactly what they are doing in their spare time?
I believe it was the unions like the UAW, that have destroyed America. Everyone is brainwashed to think that these thug unions have to exist or the big companies will go back to making the worker clock in 14 hour days, and make little kids run dangerous machinery. The Union is the offspring of socialist parents and it has forced companies to provide high wages and big benefit packages which have eaten into profits. This state of affairs has all but destroyed the manufacturing base in this nation which once provided employment and a sense of security to millions of Americans.
IIRC Washington DC was named top drug using city in the US. BO is in bed with the unions.....and neither DC or Unions want the border closed....Could it be they’re profiting and/or using?
Everyone is flipping out but this is nothing new. It's how many manual workers have relaxed for hundreds of years. With the exception of a few mind-numbing drugs that some abuse, the R&R makes them more more productive and boosts morale.
And the entertainment today is nothing. The cow towns, ports and mining villages of the 19th century would give today's puritans a heart attack. The difference then is we didn't have socialism to kill productivity.
It's the socialism. Not the booze or girls
Bankruptcy is often referred to as "creative destruction"....
What does the system say to the worker who does not get buzzed at lunch and is injured by one of these morons?
Are these not “United States Government Employees”?
this behavior is totally unacceptable and will be dealt with swiftly
SURE... maybe assign them to union f...off job at the Whiteyhouse.
I lived in a LARGE banking city in NC and worked in a bar, waiting on several high level executives from a Very LARGE National Bank.
You would be amazed at the ‘nose blow’ these important, supposedly happily married executives would go through in a night along with the many female ‘escorts’ that accompanied them.
Drug use and prostitution is not just a blue collar/service worker issue. High level corporate personnel are just as bad.
