Sarah Palin, Tea Party favorite: I'd run in 2012 if "nobody else wanted to step up"
New York Daily News ^ | Thursday, September 23rd 2010 | Aliyah Shahid

The former half-term Alaska governor said she "would offer [herself] up in the name of service to the public" and run for President in two years if "nobody else wanted to step up" during an interview on Fox News on Wednesday night.

Her latest statements have added further speculation that Palin is winking and nudging her way toward a 2012 run, especially with last Saturday’s visit to Iowa for a GOP fund-raiser.

Iowa, of course, is a key early presidential voting state, with the caucuses there a critical first step on the road to securing a party's presidential nomination.

During the interview with host Greta Van Susteren, Palin said a reason to run would for President is if no one comes forward with "solutions that are needed to get the economy back on the right track."

She said that included "fighting those on the extreme left who seem to want to dismantle some of our national security tools that we have in place."

But the former vice presidential candidate, whose recent endorsements have helped several GOP contenders win their primaries, has been coy about an official announcement. Palin said she wasn’t lured by a presidential title or personal power.

"I also know that anybody -- anybody -- can make a huge difference in this country without a title, without an office, just being out there as an advocate for solutions that can work to get the country on the right track," she said. "And that’s where I am now."

lol I love the way she tweaks the two slimes, Huckster and Romney!

I seriously doubt Palin is paying any attention to those two. She is focused on Obama, something I'd like to see more freepers do as well.

Let’s get real here. We are focusing on mid-term elections. It would be political suicide for her to announce her intentions right now.

She’s smarter than the average bear.

There is no one who deserves to be the next president more than Madam President

Oh, there will be many who step up. My concern is why? Will they seek the office to amass power? or will they serve their country by restoring power to the people?

Palin has been thoroughly vetted. She thinks outside the box. She has led on every issue since resigning as governor. She is reform minded and results oriented. She is Reaganesque in her approach to economics and foreign policy and she appeals to social conservatives. The best part though is that Sarah Palin would run for the right reason, she simply feels a need to serve. I find her attitude refreshing.

“Palin/Bolton would destroy either Obama or Hillary easily.”

Palin/Bolton would be a great combination!

The sooner we are rid of Oboingo and his Marxist ilk the better!

Right! And this election is a referendum on Obama.

She’s like the Henny Penny of politics. Is anybody stepping up now and doing any heavy lifting? No, they’re all hiding behind her skirt. Watch ‘em all come out of the woodwork on Nov. 3.

This is equivalent to being in the back seat, and one of your parents saying “don’t make me stop the car!”

Bolton isn’t making waves for nothing, we can expect more from him and he may even make a run for prez, but I think his real intent will be for sarah’s veep. Just the thought of Mitt or Huck as prez starts my eyes rolling so hard I can hardly stand up let alone walk....in fact I am getting dizzy right now just thinking about it.

...if "nobody else wanted to step up"...

Well I'd say that at last count there are about a dozen people planning to "step up" and run for the nomination. So I guess that's a 'no' for Sarah then.

No, that is not a no, that is I think it's a maybe.

Is that not clear enough for you? No?

It will be soon enough! You can be sure of that!

She said the very same thing to Chris Wallace way back when she first appeared on Fox New Sunday.

The point that everyone in the news media overlooks:

Sarah Palin is not going to announce one way or the other until her TV documentary series concludes, and until she has decided that she is willing to give up her employment as a Fox New contributor, because she can’t have “unfair TV exposure” once she’s a formal candidate.

So all the media people asking her “the question” are really wasting their time and hers and surely they know that and if they don’t they’re “ooopid”

She has no need to announce now!

BUT, that doesn't prevent a lot of us from preparing. :)

if “nobody else wanted to step up”

Hard to read that answer. Of course others will step up. The first round of GOP debates will have seven to nine people on stage. I just hope its not looking like the same group of faces we sall in 2004 and 2008.

Well, one thing is clear - she did not say anything that you did not see. So, there is no need to be impatient. At least, not anytime soon.

Not so sure she would be our best possible CANDIDATE, but am pretty confident she would be our best possible PRESIDENT.

I think we could find a candidate more likely to win, but I doubt if you could find one who would govern as effectively.

Remember Goober Powell´s, ¨...this is a voice I do not yet hear.¨?
Thank God he was hard of hearing.
