Let’s get one thing straight here.
Both parties have been lifting our skirts from behind. I want to see that acknowledged.
I look down in this thing and see spending compared to the economy or some such, and Bush comes out smelling like a rose. The guy increased our national debt by 92% during his term in office.
Damn it, I want some frank admissions and a promise to do a hell of a lot better out of this document. Prattling off self-serving self-righteous numbers and explaining that we are the party of fiscal responsibility flies in the face of truth. We have not been in recent years, and I want to see some recognition of that.
This is my rule of thumb on all this. This is the sort of things I’m looking for. I want an honest apology for the mistakes made.
That being said, I have only skimmed this very superficially. If an apology is forthcoming, this is what I have been demanding. If not, it’s more evidence of avoidance and smoke and mirrors.
Even when they approach doing the right thing, this party can’t help shooting itself in the foot.
An honest admission, is the first step of corrective measures in just about every aspect of life.
That's Step 1 of any 12 step program, such as Alcoholics Anonymous. Is there ANY doubt that the vast majority of our overlords are addicts?
Pissant pointed out elsewhere in this thread that the agenda mentions not just the repeal but the replacement of Obamacare (by Republicans, of course).
Replacement? What the hell?
Such a statement indicates that the Republican leadership simply doesn't get it. Americans don't want to keep jockeying between two political overlords, as they have been for decades; they want government to get out of their way, period.
As a result, I think that this "agenda" is nothing more than a half-hearted attempt to appease angry Tea Partiers into putting down their rhetorical torches and pitchforks and returning to the Republican plantation.
To be honest, I don't want more empty promises. I want heads to roll, politically speaking.
