House Republicans just released a draft of their legislative agenda for the next Congress, a 21-page "Pledge to America" that they will formally unveil Thursday morning at a Virginia hardware store.
"The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated," the introduction says.
It continues: "With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America."

This notion has since been thoroughly discredited: we now know the new health care law will mean more financial pain for seniors, families, employers and the federal government. Let’s get one thing straight here.
Both parties have been lifting our skirts from behind. I want to see that acknowledged.
I look down in this thing and see spending compared to the economy or some such, and Bush comes out smelling like a rose. The guy increased our national debt by 92% during his term in office.
Damn it, I want some frank admissions and a promise to do a hell of a lot better out of this document. Prattling off self-serving self-righteous numbers and explaining that we are the party of fiscal responsibility flies in the face of truth. We have not been in recent years, and I want to see some recognition of that.
This is my rule of thumb on all this. This is the sort of things I’m looking for. I want an honest apology for the mistakes made.
That being said, I have only skimmed this very superficially. If an apology is forthcoming, this is what I have been demanding. If not, it’s more evidence of avoidance and smoke and mirrors.
Even when they approach doing the right thing, this party can’t help shooting itself in the foot.
An honest admission, is the first step of corrective measures in just about every aspect of life.
I really do.

We pledge to honor the Constitution as constructed by its framers and honor the original intent of those precepts that have been consistently ignored particularly the Tenth Amendment, which grants that all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.
We pledge to advance policies that promote greater liberty, wider opportunity, a robust defense, and national economic prosperity.
We pledge to honor families, traditional marriage, life, and the private and faith-based organizations that form the core of our American values.
We pledge to make government more transparent in its actions, careful in its stewardship, and honest in its dealings.
We pledge to uphold the purpose and promise of a better America, knowing that to whom much is given, much is expected and that the blessings of our liberty buoy the hopes of mankind.
We make this pledge bearing true faith and allegiance to the people we represent, and we invite fellow citizens and patriots to join us in forming a new governing agenda for America.
How about a limit on the number of laws, say 500.
You shouldn’t have more laws than an average human can be aware of and therefore comply with.
When at the limit, if politicians want a new law they have to get rid of an old law they feel is less important.

Not a good start, as I like the original version.
And the difference between the two sentences?
None.
That one is enough in itself. We will finally see how they ‘interpretate’ the Constitution.

How about the “good for the goose” amendment - Congress shall make no law for which the Members, their families or their Aides are exempt.

Reading it now. It looks like a good start to me. Excellent in fact. Especially love page 4. They are going to put the brakes on the balding marxist...Sustein and his secretive ‘shove’ regulations. That’s enough to get me excited..plus we all know the congressional investigations are coming if we win. All of the democrat’s abuse of powers, dereliction of duty and high crimes and misdemeanors are going to come spilling out into the public square!
