DeMint: "No plans" to run for President (Again says It's a "no," "absolutely not" going to run)
GOP 12, Greta Van Susteren ^ | 9-17-10 | Christian Heinze

Posted on 09/21/2010 6:11:52 PM PDT by TitansAFC

On Thursday night, Jim DeMint told Greta Van Susteren that he's not using his sudden power to angle for a Presidential bid, but did leave the door open to political observers by claiming he has "no intentions" to run for President and that he didn't want to think past 2010.

GRETA: You certainly have gotten a lot of attention, and you've got a lot of endorsements that have been successful. And of course, everyone's always asking, so I'm gonna ask it: Are you gonna run for President in 2012?

It looks like you're picking up the chitz, and you're certainly breaking away from the party a little bit.

DEMINT: You know, people can't stand it up here that I might actually be doing something that I think is good for the country.

GRETA: Is that a no?

DEMINT: It's a "no". I'm not going to run for President.

GRETA: Absolutely not going to run for President?

DEMINT: I'm not going to run for President. I have no intentions, no plans, but I don't want to think past 2010 right now.

He also said he thinks Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, and Newt Gingrich are strong possibilities, but that he wants someone who's a combination of "Winston Churchill and Ronald Reagan".

So clearly he's indicating he'd support a Joe Arpaio bid.

He’s a good man... I really don’t care where he goes as long as he has some influence as to who serves in government.

I am genuinely hoping for enough Tea Party wins this November that we can hear the words “Senate Majority Leader, Jim DeMint.”

Watch their heads explode.....LOL

He is fine where he is. We need good leadership in that building also.

If that doesn’t happen, I along with many here will be sorely disappointed!

Senate majority leader DeMint would go well with Speaker of the House Bachman...

He's smarter at this than Palin. For one thing, DeMint still has an election to win in November but, secondly, he knows it's too early to even hint at a presidential run.

If he later says he's running, he can always cite a change in circumstances made him re-assess his position.

Mike Pence seems to be looking good for POTUS. DeMint needs to stay in the senate, he is needed there.

Sarah Palin needs to remain an unelected cheerleader and voice for the regular folks. She is very effect now and will remain so for many years.

John McCain and Linseed Graham must have no leadership role.

-—”Mike Pence seems to be looking good for POTUS”-—

Oh, gawd.....another “Congressman X for President” pipe dream......

Pence is great, but like the 1,000,000 impeccable Conservative Congressmen before him, isn't even in a serious conversation when talking about the Presidency. He needs to run for Senate or Governor, then he becomes an instant contender.

That isn't what she is, Palin is both a one woman wrecking crew of the GOP, and the one that held it together by refusing to go third party, in other words she is reshaping the GOP, not "cheerleading".

Oh, come on. “Absolutely not” running is not a secret precursor to “running.” A “smarter” candidate leaves wiggle room, and doesn’t just outright lie about their plans.

He’s not running, period. Take it from him, not me.

Pure BS. I’m tired of you types who want to pat Sarah on her head and tell her to scram. Nonsense. Sarah is leading on the issues and won’t be a runner-up or running mate to anyone anymore. Mike Pence is a CONGRESSMAN. No one outside his district has ever heard of him. We need an EXECUTIVE, not a legislator for President.

Pence has experience beyond legislating. If you want Palin to be the ‘12 candidate that is fine, but that isn’t call to dismiss him as nothing but an unknown member of the machine. That is effectively what you just did there.

Oh and one thing as you have seen this election cycle and with Palin herself it is easy these days to introduce a candidate into the mainstream when we wish to.

I’m keeping my options open. I’m just hoping this time conservatives settle on someone before someone like Romney skates by like McCain did. But time for deciding is two years away and I refuse to be limited to any choice right now.

If he doesn’t run I want him to pick a candidate to back. I think Michel Bachmann is a fine choice. It is still early. people have to see what happens next year. A Conservative Republican win this November changes everything.

Yeah, the way she works a crowd, speaks her mind, gives voice to conservative values and inspires people to get involved is truly nauseating.
