90% of the time that's exactly what happens. Do you remember the murders at Ft Bragg a few years past? The media of course zeroed in on PTSD bla bla bla.....
Back in the 1980s at Fort Lewis WA, the 2nd Ranger Battalion had a captain whose wife was sleeping with one of his sergeants. An E5 IIRC. The two were "in love" and to the degree that they decided to pull a stunt out of the movie "Body Heat." The wife would pretend to hear a noise downstairs and urge her hubby to go check it out. She would say: "Here, take this GUN..." The gun would be UNLOADED of course. When the unwitting hubby confronted the "intruder," said intruder would cap him.
The plan went off without a hitch and unsuspecting hubby trusted his wife that the gun was loaded when it was not and so he was DOA. The whole thing came unraveled when the sergeant went back to the barracks and blabbed. LOL. Too bad about the captain, though. But the obvious moral here is.... ALWAYS make certain of the condition of your firearm before commencing hostile actions!
