We live in the age of rebranding. If something isn't working in business, politics or government, the first remedy is often to change the offending product's name. In order to shake off an embattled public image, tobacco giant Philip Morris became Altria. The Minerals Management Service, which became a byword for corrupt and industry-captured oversight of offshore drilling is now the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement. And so on.
And now the White House is following the same playbook in trying to guide environmental debate away from the contentious phrase "global warming." In its place, the administration suggests the phrase "global climate disruption" when discussing environmental issues.
According to a report by Fox News, White House science adviser John Holdren gave a speech last week in Oslo, Norway, urging adoption of the new terminology. Calling global warming a "dangerous misnomer," Holdren argued that the term is essentially too light and fluffy, since he believes the climate issues facing humanity are more dire and complex.

Calling global warming a "dangerous misnomer," Holdren argued that the term is essentially too light and fluffy...
Too light and fluffy. lol...
"Descent into Hell" had the proper tone and sense of urgency but the term was already being reserved to describe the O's first years in office. Rebranding the term for the phenomena of meteorological anomalies, warming trend as cycle of normal weather patterns that have been reported won't change the fact that it is all politically motivated, bogus hocus pocus.

A rat by any other name is still............
Rebranding won’t keep the whole premise from being a lie.

Ever notice when a company makes something “new and improved” it usually is lousy? Here is to this being another idea that fails!

They created this branding with 20 years of propaganda.

The image is so discredited that “rebranding” is not enough. What is needed is a sign reading: “America. Under New Management.”
To: lbryce
Holdren should be given a piss test before they allow him to fly off to Oslo to “represent” US.

They want to relabel it “Global Climate Disruption”? Ha ha, Seven syllables, three words, 23 letters. It won’t fit in a headline; it will be mangled by the Ted Baxter-dense media heads.
The successful labels are pithy and conjure an image: Death Panels, Star Wars, Feminazi.

Call it whatever you want - I ain't paying any attention. Man, so puny that he cannot even steer a hurricane away from NO, certainly does not have the power to change the globe's climate either way - to cause the heating, or to fix the heating.
Try examining the effects of the sun. Then maybe one should think about the powers in the universe and the powers of man.

The problem for Holdren is that Anthropogenic Global Warming is, at least, a scientific theory. Its basis is weak. Models of global climate show warming only when certain forcing is used, but at least it has some scientific basis. Global climate disruption has absolutely NO scientific basis. There is NO scientific theory that predicts “global climate disruption”. It is purely a political term. It may be good politics (for him), but it ain't science.

“Global Climate Disruption”? Egad! So what does a “disrupted” climate look like, anyway? Yeah. A climate.

They managed to re-brand Communism, so perhaps this will work for ‘em.
